Just quoted $1,300.00 for rear end? Reasonable?

Hey everybody, I was just quoted 1300.00 for a rebuild on my 2007 4runner rear end, is this in line or are they ripping me off?

That's may be a fair price, but it's not your only option. You could get a drop-in 3rd member from East Coast Gear Supply for about $650. Add a gasket and new differential fluid and you're up to about $750 for a new one with a good warranty. They aren't hard to install.

Yeah, check car-part.com. If you were in Illinois, there is a guy in the Chicago area selling one on CL, might check there as well.

I would get a rebuilt 3rd from ECGS, personally.

That's the big question. Gear issues, bearings? It's also a lot cheaper if you just pull out the removable 3rd member and have just that taken care of.
