I get about 1.5 more horses and about .5 gals more and when it gets dirty you really notice the miles per gal drop. I could probably get more out of the motor if I relocated all of the filter out of the engine bay to pull fresh cold air. But since it's a 4x4 I have the issue of having to keep it dry also. But yes the filter is well worth the money.

Exactly what he said. What you get is a filter that performs slightly better than OEM but with the added hassle of having to clean it repeatedly, especially if you drive on dirt roads like a 4x4 is supposed to.
My 22R pickup is going to go with a Weber hat as soon as I throw out the ratty K&N that is on it now.

I put my K&N filter on just a couple weeks after I got my t4r. I couldn't notice any difference power-wise, but in the mpg department there was noticeable difference. I think that the issue of cleaning them is not an issue because just as often (if not more often) as you have to clean your K&N or get it cleaned you should also be replacing your paper filter... So it doesn't make much of a difference there.

K&N is ok but definitely not the best. A dry filter can help as it doesn't use oil. S&B and AMSoil air filters are damn good and plan on picking one of those up soon for my CAI.
