KDSS front mounting bolt size?

When I installed my lift last week, I may have cross threaded the passenger side KDSS bolt. It felt a lot tighter tightening it down than the others. I was able to tighten it all the way and torque it though. Yes, I should have stopped, removed bolt, and retried.

Does anyone know the bolt/thread size of that bolt? I was thinking of removing the bolt and chasing the threads. Another part of me says to leave it alone.

I don't know the size, but if you got it in and tight and torqued, I would just leave alone.

The time to repair it would be the next time you have to pull it apart for some reason.

Very common problem with KDSS. Happens to them all over time unless you know some tricks. It's the worst part of lifting with KDSS IMHO. I would not bother trying to tap it.. It won't help much.. The only real solution is a timecert and new bolts....

If it took any torque.. just leave it alone until next time. Sucks though, because it won't go back together next time.. and that could be at a bad time...

It's m12 1.25 BTW. Have battled it a few times... No fun at all..

Did anyone have a part number for the bolt? I looked at a few online Toyota parts places...shows the removable portion of the bracket, but not the bolt.

How have been people been fixing the non-removable portion of the bracket...helicoil or cutting the threaded portion off and using a regular nut?

Timecert is what we used. You won't be able to access the the nut unless you pull the LCA and weld in a new one (which is very time consuming and tricky)...

I would just buy a high grade bolt. the Toyota one is pretty soft. In fact, it may have just chewed up the bolt and not the nut. Eventually the nut gets destroyed, but the first time a new bolt worked.

Bolt size is 12mm x 1.25mm pitch

Third time disconnecting the passenger side and it became nearly impossible to get the bolts out (each time was worse than time before). That, and inspecting the threads on the bolt and holes (carnage), this time there was no way this was going to reattach. Tap/die bolts and mounting holes with with cutting oil and reattachment went smoothly.

Damn I guess i'm not the only one with the problem. I messed up my lower/passenger side bolt yesterday. Was tight going in, but it still torqued fine. If the treads on the bracket are damaged I may just get a slightly smaller bolt and washer/nut the other end.

I see a lot of used Lexus GX LCA control arms for sale on ebay. Ebay says it will fit the 4runner. Can anyone confirm this?
