KM3 Owners - Snow/Ice Use?

Love them!

We had a surprise 6-8 inches here in PA a couple weeks ago. I have the 285/70-17 KM3s. They handled it great. The roads were not plowed and there was ice on the bottom with a lot of snow on top. It was a mess. I drove out of work and people stuck all over...looked like a movie scene. And I just drove right around a lot of them. Offered to help but most were either not in their cars or didn't want my help. Then used them on the back roads and actually pulled 2 people out of ditches. I then even got a little cocky and didn't see the edge of the road and started going into the grass/down slope and they kept the traction. I have KM2s on my Jeep Cherokee. Good tire but I like the KM3s better. But like we always say...it is up to the preference of the driver and the truck.

Thanks for the data point! Interesting to hear how well the performed for you. Backs up the response im reading about people with KM2s that its not all that bad. And its finally nice to hear someone with KM3s give their feedback for snow/ice use.

I have KM2 and I would recommend siping the two inner tread lug rows. It helps on wet pavement and ice. As far as snow KM2 has been great and I would imagine the same for KM3.

I drove around in that same snow storm on what’s left of my Kumho AT51s without any trouble, but I’m looking for something a bit more aggressive and that will last more than 15,000 miles

is the general consensus that i should be able to drive on well maintained roads with KM3s?

Want to be able to take the family to tahoe this coming season.

Resurrecting this ancient thread but still relevant to others today. While I don’t have KM3s, I have driven to Tahoe many times in the winter and even when ‘maintained’ I expect ice on h50 especially in the AM. KO2s did ok, I drive it slow and still had some sliding turns pucker moments. H80 may be better, less winding and probably better maintained being an interstate, but then you gotta take 89 or 267 to get to the lake which may have some icy spots as well.
