Knock sensor symptoms om T4R 3vze 1992.

Recently, I've been having stalling issues with my vehicle. When I accelerate, the engine stalls or shakes a bit, until I remove my foot slightly off the pedal. Also, when I slow down, say, like approaching a traffic light, w/o down shifting. Otherwise, its running smoothly, and gas consumption is normal. Now according to a friend, he advises to change the knock sensor, which is in the middle of the bloody engine, or just the wires. So comments will be well appreciated.

If the knock sensor is bad, it should throw an engine code. Even if your CEL lights isnt on, there still might be a code. I would start there.

And if you do end up changing the knock sensor, change the pigtail wiring too. Known for failing.

Definitely check for CEL codes, the 1992 is OBD-I so you don't need a scanner, just count the number of flashes. Could be other things, maybe the TPS.

Hello, how did you manage to solve this problem? Was it knock sensor? After head resurfacing, I am facing with same problem. I tried to rebuild knock sensor wire because it was burned a little bit. Conductivity was ok but maybe something happened to ground wire - I don't know

Why did you try to fix the wire, a brand new one from the Toyota dealership is only 20 bucks. it would give me better piece of mind to know it was brand new...

if you google search how to check the CEL (check engine light) there is a video of how it is done. Start here and let us know what the CEL code is and go from there.

Why did you try to fix the wire, a brand new one from the Toyota dealership is only 20 bucks. it would give me better piece of mind to know it was brand new...

Because, Toyota dealership didn't have that cable on stock and I had to wait 14 days for delivery!!! ((
Also, ebay option was something about 10-11days...blah...
I couldn't wait such long time and I had to do something because I needed car badly

dang 14 days is insane, maybe next time go to the dealership have them look up the part and have them write down the part number for you. then take the part # to local auto parts store or plug it in google and I'm sure you can find one for a good price with fast shipping.

My experience, replaced the pig tail but the breakdown was between the harness and the controller at the kick panel. I ended up ordering shielded cable and making a replacement harness. Just something to think about as you wait for the OE pig tail.
