Knocking sound from drivetrain when cold

Hi,
From time to time when the car is left outside at freezing temperatures it comes terrible knocking sound when driving. It is coming from underbody the drive train to me.
It doesn't happen in the summer.
I thought it's the ice and mud somewhere at wheels but today minus 0 Celsius but roads clean. It was a short ride and the knocking sound was horrible but it just disappeared when I start the car again after a while.
The driveshaft is being lubricated every year when I change the oil.

What could be sensitive to the temperatures out there?
