knocking sound under the hood

first of all, many thanks to people who have helped me. i bought my 04 v8 limited about three months ago. had a couple of problems and all were solved with the help i had here.

now it seems there is another problem. i can here faint knocking sound while sitting in the truck. when i get out and kneel down at the front wheel, the sounds grow much louder. it comes from the bottom of the engine or transmission. any idea?

Is it a ticking noise? Could be your exhaust manifold gasket...

Check the exhaust heat shields. There is one right where you are talking about and it comes loose often. Mine did.

the sounds are from the front. when i get to the rear, the sound faint greatly. it is most noticeable just at the bottom of the front. continuous, about twice a second.

Yes. the sound is different. i had that problem and already taken it off. it is from the engine area, i think.

Take it by your mechanic and have him/her take a look... if its a rod bearing, maybe they cancfix it before you toss it...

Might be leaking manifold wich is specific tick sound or it might be a fuel pressure valve or whatever they call it.

I replaced my both manifolds already.

I still have a knock noise sounds like valves but only when it's really cold and first start up at the morning. It goes away after 5 minutes driving and it's definitely this fuel pressure damper

the sounds is always there. no matter after a drive or a cold start. it is there when the truck sits. hopefully, i don't need to go to a mechanic.^^
