Koyo Radiator or OEM?...

Hello, my girlfriends 4Runner is at 129k and I believe we should do the radiator now before it pops, I researched a bit and I guess most people buy the ebay KOYO radiator?

Is this radiator made in China, and how is the quality? How hard is the installation of the new radiator?

While we are in there replacing this, is there anything else we should replace as well?

129k on the Rad? umm that's kinda low mileage for a OEM rad. Instead of buying a Radiator, I would buy a b&m transmission cooler before the internal cooler burst inside your radiator and you get the pink milkshake. But if your radiator is leaking, I would go head and get a koyo. As far as where its made and installation of it, I don't know.

Timing belt and water pump? I would go with an OEM. I think it's part number 16400‑75180. Costs around $200 but if the one you have lasted 10+ years then it isn't a bad buy.

Koyo, it is OEM in a different box. Should run you about $125. I believe I bought mine on Amazon. K1998 I believe is the part number.

However, I would ALSO run an external tranny cooler if it's an automatic. It's the ONLY guarantee against ever getting the pink milkshake.

At 130K miles, probably a good idea to do a timing belt and water pump too. Flush the cooling system while you're at it for good measure.

Radiator replacement is super easy. Four hoses, a few boots and you're good to go. Should take you about 30-45 minutes start to finish.

Koyo is made in Indonesia, at least the last three of mine were. TYC may be branding them now.

Replace the thermostat, thermostat gasket, and both radiator hoses. Take note of the jiggle valve's location before removing the old one.
