I was wondering if anyone here has tried the KYB 4x4 coil overs for the front
4th gen 4Runner and rear shocks on Rockauto? They are at a VERY reasonable price. I see everyone here swears by Bilsteins. Any thoughts???

I did the SR4131 and SR4130 and did not like it. I have an 07 limited 2wd 4Runner. The springs have approximately 11 or 12 wraps and are stiff. They lifted my truck 2.25 inches in the front. Now I most likely had some settling with 175,000 miles on the stock setup but that was too high for me. I was only going for about an inch higher if any at all as I wasn't trying to lift it. I rebuilt the struts with used 4WD stock 4Runner springs and I am now an inch higher than I was with my original springs and they feel good. Rebuilding them was a pain because the KYB springs are too tall and tightly wrapped that doing the no spring compressor method didn't work. I had to use a spring compressor and had a hard time fitting the pieces between the coils to compress it. A sledge hammer and a crow bar helped but it was not fun. The factory 4WD springs went in easy.

I have them and I am happy overall. The ride feels better than it did with 200k+ xreas. They did provide me with some lift but probably more like 1.5". I'd imagine the lift would be more on a 2wd like Parker. There isn't much info on here about them but search "my KYB daystar" to see what I posted.

I don't have any experience with other brands though to compare. I have heard bad things about Monroe from members on here so that is why I didn't go that route.
