I recently acquired a super white 16 TRD Pro with a gobi ladder and full length front runner rack. I haven’t had a chance to use either yet. But they sure do look *****in haha. I do appreciate how offset the ladder is to the driver side, it really doesn’t block much of the rear view.

I also have the full Frontrunner on the 4R. Considering the Gobi for mounting fuel so climbing on it I will not. I'm more interested in how much it hits the rack while the lift gate is open. Are you having issues with this? How bad if any? Thanks.

I bought a C4 ladder because it is easier to access the top of my RTT (X-Cover) to load things on it, and my recovering boards are mounted on top of it as well. Really access to the recovery boards is the biggie as I use them for leveling. I do think I am going to mount a shovel and axe to it as well. I have their Rotopax mount but haven’t used it yet.

With no RTT I only access from the sides. So yeah, I get why most people likely don’t need one. The only time I see a ladder that bothers me is on Range Rover with no rack at all.

I use my Gobi ladder often enough to be glad it’s there. On average 2-3 times per month maybe. Plus, as others have pointed out, it’s a good mount point for other gear.

Doesn’t touch the rack at all. I don’t think you will have any issues. Can’t give you a picture since I recently ripped the rack off chasing down a bad vibration noise.

Gobi ladder, I use it EVERY single day. It just feels wrong when I close the hatch of my sisters ladderless 4runner and nothing to grab to open and close it


Actually climbing on top I have used it maybe <10 times in 2 years to tie my lowes purchases down

I just ordered a ladder and struts. My wheels are offset enough that I can do most of what I need from running boards or top of tires but I had to actually get on top of a closed roof top tent twice last time out to un do the latches to extend the tent ladder in order to open it. In the process I managed to put a couple dents in the rear sail panel. I had a paintless dent removal guy fix this but dont want a repeAt. So I bought a ladder so my 53 year old ass can get up there if need be without destroying the truck. Its to each their own and for whatever reason. Id like to also mount a water carrier in it so I dint have to bring a 4 gallon jug inside the cab on trips inly to have to listen to it sloshing over every bump. Maybe Ill get lucky and never have to use it, but Im doubtful that will happen.

That's sh!tty. Sorry, I hope you found it. Theres a lot of wind noise from the wind fairing (the one that comes with it and mounts under the first crossbar) so I took mine off. Got nasty whistling and a bad vibration in the rear somewhere anything over 40mph. I put it back on that same afternoon. No whistle or rattle. Pulling on all the bars and rails feels solid still.

Have a gobi rack and ladder. I personally use my sliders way more than my ladder but there is absolutely a time and a place for it for me and my wife.

NOW the real benefit of the ladder. My 7 year old's favorite part of the truck is the gobi rack and hanging out up there. It's the ONLY way he can get up there and seeing his smile on top of my truck is well worth the $ and additional weight on the back hatch.

I use my ladder all the time. I am constantly climbing on the roof to load/unload. Plus I attach my fancy trash bag (trasharoo) to it since I don’t have a rear tire carrier. Added ladder steps which help a lot for me personally and gives another mounting option if needed. On the trail I mount a rotopax water jug to use for quick access.

I've got one scheduled for delivery Thursday... I don't necessarily need it everyday, but it will come in handy loading my Rhino platform.

I'm also guilty of being in the camp that thinks it looks cool

Well I've had the 4runner about a year now, and got the Gobi rack/ladder just a couple months after the truck. I've used it very often, mostly as a handle to close the hatch since at 6'4" it's in a easier spot to grab than the factory hand 'slot'.

If you're like me and haven't decided on an aftermarket bumper/hitch accessory, then you can hang your trasharoo on it or whatever else. I've never had issues with the ladder being too much weight for the lift struts to support so I haven't replaced them yet.

It's nice to have a ladder for easier access to the roof if you need to get something small or perhaps tie something to the mesh floor and have a little closer view. Like others have said, I'd only get a ladder if you have a rack strong enough to stand on, however.

I went with a Baja ladder to go with my roof rack. It’s a huge help for getting on top to collapse your RTT... and dragging yourself up the side of your truck has less to to with being in shape and more to do with not wanting to beat on your rig anymore than you have to.

I put a ladder on, nice to have it when setting up kayaks, and looks good, too, IMHO. Extra stress on the struts is not an issue, I bought HD struts and replaced them before installing the ladder. Two bolts and two set screws to install ... nothing to it. As far as accessing stuff from the side, anyone using the steps that hook onto the door latch?

Bringing this thread back to ask a question about standing on the rear bumper.

I am thinking about a ladder because I am finding myself standing on the rear bumper a lot securing items on my roof rack for my trips. I have already slipped off the bumper a few times. I am also worried that the bumper may not hold my 210lb ass for much longer.

My question is, should I expect my bumper to fall off at some point if I continue to stand on it?
