LC coils have sagged.. now ugly rake :(

So ive been noticing (as well as several others) my rear end has sagged. Sometimes it looks even while other times quite sagged. I can handle rake with a lower front end, but having the rear lower drives me nuts. I have 7.5 wraps in the back matched with the shocks from the same LC. The shocks are toast and came more or less free so i am going to replace those with rough countrys. Up front i have bilstein 5100 adjustables, they are set to the highest of the 3 levels. I would say the rake is maybe an inch? I will measure when i am home. Would you guys recommend dropping the fronts to the lowest setting or the middle one? Or would a spacer in the rear help level it out without negatively affecting the ride tooooo much.. I would love to not have to remove the front struts and have them disassembled again. Thanks guys

ah gad, this is what was recommended yikes, so i should drop the 5100's to the lowest perch?

the front end does drive like garbage when i hit speeds bumps etc. Wow im glad you informed me steeze

and i guess im in store for another alignment..

Who recommended that??

Yes i would drop it to the lowest perch. that should put you at 3 inches of lift in the front which will give you a little rear rake.
 
alignment/suspension shop.. same one which assembled the struts and didnt line the eye up with the top 3 bolts so they had to re do it after i found out the hard way :) damn im on crutches for a few weeks too so wont be able to do this myself, i wonder what an alignment shop would charge if i get it aligned afterwards to pull out the shocks and drop them then re install them..

Why would you take a suspension/alignment shops word on something very specific to a product you bought on your vehicle?

Always do your homework before hand. Never trust somebody like this unless it's somebody like Steve, Toytech, etc who I assume does quite a bit of product test.

Its nobody's fault but your own. I know that sounds harsh, but you should have known this.

..okay, just asking for advice - everyone makes mistakes. But thanks for everything so far.
 
What's likely happened is the rear coils have settled, rather than sagged. As above, drop the front struts down to the 1st or 2nd perch, and you should get a better ride, and a proper stance as a result. You're running the Tacoma4runner application 5100's I assume, and not the Tundra ones?

yep you got it, tacomas.

I would do the work myself but because of injury can't, the top alignment shop in my area (do very good work - not the shop i used previously) quoted my 320 bucks to pull the shocks re adjust them re install and do full alignment. I figure i either do that or else wait about 2 weeks until im able to bend over again and do the work however itll cost close to around 100 bucks (this is the going rate here) to have the struts disassembled etc + a few hours of my time and 100 bucks for an alignment. its unfortunate i just had an alignment done 3 weeks ago after doing all new LBJ's, ITR's and OTR's
 
i like the look of ur rig! those flaps look in place..had to click on your build thread to see if i remember who this was and it has come quiet a way!

Why not take it back where you had it done in the 1st place and see what they'll do to help you out? It is afterall their fault it has to come back apart, right? This isn't difficult diagnosis work where you need the best people working on it, it's a pretty simple job if you have the tools.

thanks! its actually changed since these pics.. i painted the wheels again and took off the rack, ill update my thread soon - im just at my parents house now since i compressed a disc in my back on the weekend skiing :(

I called the shop which did the work originally and they are completely back up until thursday. Since im off work for a few days i was hoping to have it done before then thats my only problem. They will still be charging me 2 hours labour to do it- i cant put all the onus on them so now im stuck deciding get it done tomorrow a little ways out of town at 2.5 hrs labour (but best in the business for alignments) or wait until thursday which may not work because im trying to get back to work as soon as i capable..
 
I like everything but the mudflaps with the stripper sillowette.

They scream that you are either a 17 y/o kid or that creepy guy from the First Kill Bill movie with the *****-wagon pickup.

Even here in SoCal that would be a bit ridiculous ... just saying.

Other than that it looks like a great rig. You lift level is fine. Trust T4R.org and not some all in one shop.

Btw, different wheels, do you have two sets?

I like the black 5-stars (like mine!) But I noticed the alignement shop put weights on the outside. A better shop would have put them on the inside.

I have been following your thread, it does have more pics then my first threesome, because I haven't had one yet.

lol.. only half over if you pay close attention. same set i just painted them thinking i may like the close to OEM look, i think im still a fan of black but do not have the motivation to re paint again haha. I am in the market for new wheels anywho, really big fan of the ar23. just unsure since they are lug centric. Ya i have had my fair share of problems with the shop that did the tires/balancing.. a lot of problems.

when it comes time for the 3some.. you better find a go-pro helmet cam :)

I wasn't ripping into you, but a valuable life lesson is to assume everybody doesn't know what they should. Always know yourself, and if you don't, find out. They places often hire very under educated people because they are cheap labour, don't expect them to know. The good ones are hard to find.
