Next on the to-do list is new UCA's and LCA's. I got the ebay UCA's and aftermarket OEM spec LCA's IMG_2942.jpg
This is the passenger side, with the front on the top, for reference

Read some horror stories about the camber alignment bolts being seized in the bushing and need to cut out, and always prefer to use new hardware, so went ahead and ordered this camber bolt kit. IMG_2943.jpg

Now here's the issue, I was laying all the parts out in preparation for the install this coming Wednesday (10/14).

The bushing sleeves are different diameter front vs rear. Here is the front:

and the rear:

The camber bolt fits snugly in the rear bushing

But flops around in the front

SOOOoooooo, what am i missing here since there obviously must be some other sleeve that goes in here? The new bolts are the same size when lined up against the current bolt thats in in the LCA, but I've been looking online for hours and can't find the missing piece. I believe there's a sleeve that I'm supposed to reuse but story after story says that sleeve is often seized up so bad that it can't be removed.

1: Is my reasoning correct that there is an extra sleeve I'm supposed to reuse?

2: ANYWHERE TO BUY THIS MISSING SLEEVE??? - In case I can't reuse the stock one
So, please, help me out.... someone?

Those alignment bolts are not correct. Get some OEM ones.

Sorry I don't have a better picture, but you can see one of the OEM bolts at the top left in this picture.

So are the OEM's different diameter front vs rear?

And anyone have a link for the complete alignment bolt kit? all the parts sites I've looked at have every component separate instead of a complete kit

Yes, they are different.

Toyota doesn't sell a kit, they are bought individually. You're on your own with aftermarket stuff. I have found that the hit or miss with aftermarket parts, for the most part, is simply not worth the hassle. YMMV

Agreed I did complete rebuild on my OEM UCA's with OEM parts and if i don't buy new OEM LCA's I will rebuild those too before I buy aftermarket issues, headaches and more damage from the after math of faulty products...no thanks.

To each their own, I guess.

Personally, I'm not rushing back to replace OEM parts that failed prematurely with the same poorly designed OEM parts and pay a premium to do it. Many non-OEM parts are actually upgrades even if they are cheaper. I certainly won't put junk on my truck, but the OEM stuff isn't always that great. There's really no excuse for cam bolts that are seized on more vehicles than not and bushings that wear out in 100k miles.

Some parts are well worth the OEM premium, like axle seals in my experience. Ungreasable cam bolts will only seize again.

With that said, much of the stuff you can get on eBay is certified crap.

Couldn't agree more, well said. the people I notice that have this issue with OEM cam bolts are the ones that live in areas where they salt the roads.
Speaking of axle seals maybe you would know ...does this look like a leaky axle seal in your opinion

That doesn't look like a leaky axle seal to me. A bad seal will let differential oil through and it'll get all over the place quick since it's a liquid. Whatever that stuff is that's oozing out isn't differential fluid unless your fluid is contaminated and has gelled up somehow.

I really don't know what that orange goo is, honestly. I think you'll need to pull the axle toto find out. It should be pretty obvious when you get it apart.

OP, you're missing a sleeve that goes on the front bolt. It is about as long as the bushing and also has two holes in it to allow the grease to get out to the bushing. I bought two Moog bolt kits from Rock Auto and both of mine came with the correct parts.

Just did the same thing, probably the same kit. I ordered my cam bolts from Wheelers offroad and the bigger hole has a bigger bolt and a sleeve that goes around the bolt.
What a difference after new bushings!!!! So much better!!

Do you have the link for the kit you bought? Thank you

All very good stuff....I went through ball joint hell once and will not again. That greaseable bolt is a thing of beauty !

So do you guys plan on an alignment after replacing those cam bolts?

Yes, always get it aligned after doing something like that. Better to be safe.
