That looks really nice but it seems to me that it would throw quite a bit of glare in the front of the hood and on back of any brush guard or especially if you have a bug guard.
What does it look like while driving at night for the driver POV?
Seems like it would be distracting.

If I could afford a hood scoop and a S/C, I would probably try small flickering red lights.

Well damn man that's like no glare on the hood, but that hoop has to go, or be shorten.
I say this MOD is a WINNER
You should make another one with the old insert and possibly sell it.....to me!
Or get a different output pattern and switch them out depending on what your needs are for particular outing.

Cool thanks, that is exactly what I was afraid of, for me at least that would be way too distracting to be usable.
The reflection off of brush guards and bug deflectors would drive me nuts.

Thank you for the photos, the output is exactly what I had hoped to see.
For our purpose, the light disbursement will fill my natural scan of the terrain ahead with an acceptable amount of distraction for our use.
IMO, its not surprising to see this LED bar deliver similar results to others when placement is behind/above/inline the with hood. That is to say; the light/glare casting onto those items place ahead either comes as a positive or a distraction. The objections are warranted, well received yet not a deal breaker for us.
As noted earlier, what I like about this mod is the forward light elevation, disbursement as well as it's somewhat stealthy appearance; unless you're looking for it.
Further, it the unrelated intrinsic value this mod delivers while bringing life/function to an otherwise cosmetic only feature.
Again a well thoughtout, well done fantastic mod for all to contemplate.

Rigid makes a variety of tinted covers for their bars Light Covers | Rigid Industries LED Lighting but I can't think of a reason right now why I would ever do this...but if I had a dime for every time I said that...

I think you've completely missed the point... I'd be right there with you if this were just an LED strip for accent lighting, but it's not. This is WAY better, in my opinion, than bolting a 50" light bar to the roof of your vehicle. While it'll obviously provide less light it's more aesthetically pleasing, better protected from the elements and thieves, and far less expensive.

I'm not supercharged. My mount is almost identical to OP but I didn't install the metal grate piece. There's really only one way to mount it...using this Rigid Industries light.

I don't know that much about LED light bars. Do they generate much heat? Are they durable? What else does someone unfamiliar with LEDs need to know about mounting these in the scoop?

When I first saw this I thought it was a great idea but maybe not for me. Now that I have seen more pics from the OP I might have to do this as well. I have been looking at options for extra light. Right now I have the Hella 500ff which I love and love the look. But I would like more light; my town has a light ordinance so there are no street lights in my small mountain town. I would like more light to catch the deer and elk that cross the road. My buddy nailed an Elk in his Tundra and totalled it.
I dont have access to a welder. Any ideas for making a bracket without welding?

Just spitballing here but (welding would be the cleanest/most secure) but maybe you could try securing the "L" brackets together with multiple carriage bolts...otherwise you might be able to get a mom and pop auto/exhaust/performance shop to weld it for you for $20 or so...it isn't really a technical nor long weld. Good luck!
