LED Marker Lights with Daytime Running Lights

Hi all, 2015 Canadian Model 4runner Trail. I have daytime running lights on always since this is a requirement here.

I am wondering, is there any plug and play adapter that will split my daytime running light bulbs so I can piggy back on this connection and connect also some LED amber markers for the grill?

I realize I can just splice the wire and get the connection this way, but since truck is still under warranty, I just don't want the hassle of any future problems that they can blame it on.

The other question, if there is such an adapter/splitter, if I run LED amber markers to this (not sure which ones but i'll have to hunt amazon), are there any load / voltage issues? Don't want to be popping the fuses or end up dimming my daytime running lights either.

I'm not very savvy with electrical anymore, used to retrofit headlights etc...it's been too long and my memory isn't improving with age. Any help would be great. I'm a retired Ricer...lol.

if your DRL is the highbeam bulb. There is nothing you can splice to get that to work.

Best bet would to run the marker lights to something with ACC power. So it's on when car is ok

You can source the power for them from the fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side. Will come on with ignition and no wires to splice.

Gotcha. Any tips in wiring it through the firewall? The days of crawling under my car is long gone so I just wanna ensure it’s simple enough before I start this mini project.

It’s super simple. Go get an add a fuse from auto parts store and some wire. There is a grommet that is above the pedals that’s easy to get through. I will see if I can find the write up I followed.

Thanks for all the feedback JK and Ray. All done. I had the itch and was bored so I called a buddy over to help out.

1 hour job approx.

2 LED lights from Princess Auto, 12 gauge wiring, some zap straps to tidy up the wiring, some black tubing to cover the wiring and a 5 ohm external fuse as precaution.
