I’m curious, how many of us have had issues with ARB lockers? Specifically, the bonded piston seal. I installed mine last year, front and rear Airlockes. I got 2 trips in before my rear seal blew. I figured that out with an air pump that cycled off and on, every few seconds, and a constant flow of air from my diff vent tube. I called ECGS, who have been fantastic so far about this, and they told me that this is a systemic problem with the RD193. I didn’t have time to let the truck sit for 2 weeks, while I waited for the mail, so I lagged a bit. Turns out that ARBs first fix didn’t work, so I’m glad that I waited. Now, there is another seal that is supposed to do the trick.
Watching this take place is starting to shake my confidence a bit at this point. I’m used to Detroit’s that don’t have issues like this. The other day I called to check the status of the new seal and, based on that conversation, figured that I’d better do some testing on the front. That’s when this happened:
That is a Lucas diff oil money shot. My heart sunk on that one. The front seal is blown as well. I’ve had my front diff out more times than I want to and now... f@ck. If I’d been using the crap out of it and putting in work, then I know that this is how things roll. But, this is because of a bad product and I’m really disappointed. Having dealt with ECGS, where I got both the 3rd member and clamshell, it’s going to be ok, but it sucks none the less.
All of that whining was to ask if anyone else is in the same boat. What say you?
