I'm looking to do a leveling kit and trying to decide which one. I have an 06 v6 4x4. I've read many forums on them and far too often I've see people saying to skip the spacer stage...is there anyone who is happy with their leveling kit with xreas? I don't need OR want anything huge for extreme offroad purposes. This is my daily driver and my off road trips will be limited to trails and camping trips (for the most part). I know there are 3 basic leveling kits, Cornfed, Daystar, and Toytec. I am leaning towards 2.5/1.5 Daystar as its the cheapest and seems to be an easy install. I would like to know any issues that have occurred with this lift, how it affects mpg, and what size tires can be stuffed under there. Thanks!

2. It won't affect MPG's in a significant way, unless you upsize your tires, the added height never lost me any mileage, just bigger tires.
3. Ive installed two lifts on my 4runner, main issue was rust and seized bolts. Actual install of the kit is simple.
4. If i could do it over, id skip the spacer stage. adding bilstein 5100s and fj springs and icon rear lift springs was the best modification i ever did, it rides much better than stock, is less expensive then replacing a stock xreas system by far, and is widely used and liked.

Scrap xreas, and skip spacers. Spacers only lift you a bit, and don't add any suspension travel, so if you go full flex/stuff, you're likely to be on 3 or even 2 wheels. Also, this has been covered quite a few times, please search next time.

I've struggled with the same question. I have XREAS that is in good shape, and that I like.
Ultimately thought, I can't imagine going through all the p.i.t.a. of rusty bolts (New England truck) and strut disassembly/reassembly just for the spacers.
At this point, I figure I'll just wait until the XREAS starts going, or goes, or appears to be going (insert excuse here
)and do a full lift.

I started with the Daystar 1" budget boost, slowly pieced together a 2.5/1.5 kit, and now I'm about to pull the trigger on Bilstein 5100s. My advice...go with the 1" Budget Boost for $35 while you still have xreas, wait for your tires to wear out, and drop the cash to buy 5100s and springs when you buy 265/70R17 tires.
As far as gas mileage, I have seen no change at all with my lift. Tires will make a difference when I replace them I feel sure.
Installation of the spacer kits is fairly easy for anyone with basic mechanical knowledge. It will involve some brute force though.

Just to update...I finally got a leveling kit. I went with the 3/2 Toytec spacer lift. Easy install and definitely got rid of the factory rake. It was a bit more expensive than the DayStar, but I'm hoping that the tiny extra bit of lift will allow a little more tire in the wheel well. I will post pics soon! Thank you all for your replies!
i went the Daystar spacer route. since i wanted a quick lift for cheap ($123 on amazon) rides the same. Install was fairly easy if you have the correct tools. lmk what you think of the toytec. Thats the other one i was debating about but i was sold by the price of the daystar.
I love the Toytec. It took me a long time to decide as well. But I read on a forum somewhere....not sure where...that I could stuff a slightly larger tire with the extra .5" inch of lift that the Toytec 3/2 provides. I'm about to find out if thats actually true or not when I get my tires next week. But it rides like stock wasn't too bad of an install and wasn't too bad on price. Toytec customer support was awesome as well.
