Lexus IS's 2014-19...school me pleez

Looking for one for my wife. i see Toy/Lex has done to them what they have done to the 5th Gen T4Rs - kept the exact same model since its redesign in 2014...which is fine with me, and her. Means there are parts if needed, and its been made to simply work, vs. refreshing it for no real reason at all.
Aint broke...don't fix

Is it as advertised? Dependable, sporty, comfy, quiet, luxy...etc?

It sort of looks like the Corolla-supersport of the Lexus lineup, and that suites my wife just fine, as she likes small sporty cars.

Any issues that should worry me? AWD in some, is it worth it or naw?

Can't speak the the newer IS's, but I owned a 2007 IS250 AWD.

Sporty for sure. Pretty comfortable, gotta watch your speed - easy to go fast. Pretty small interior. By biggest issue with it (that I didn't realize when I bought it) is that the rear seats didn't fold down. So with a tiny trunk and no folding rear seats, it didn't work out for me and my job at the time. I ended up trading it for a same year Volvo V70 wagon which is probably the most comfortable car I've ever had. Lexus IS is a great car, just didn't fit my needs..

I find them to be small and low. Well any compact would be small and low.

My wife won't drive a car due to it being low and everything else towering over her.

Sporty for sure. Pretty comfortable, gotta watch your speed - easy to go fast. Pretty small interior. By biggest issue with it (that I didn't realize when I bought it) is that the rear seats didn't fold down. So with a tiny trunk and no folding rear seats, it didn't work out for me and my job at the time. thanks for that info. my research has found that the newer IS models have actually addressed those points that you make. the rear seat is now fold-downable from the trunk, and they have added much more space for back-seaters.

my wife drives my T4R, for sure, but didnt want one for herself. He loves Corollas, but wants something different, more grown up in her words...this seems like the perfect combination

That was part of my initial suggestions for her...but she likes smaller, more agile cars. Case in point, she bought a used 2014 Corolla S for her mother, lower profile tires, 'sport' button, paddle shifters, etc. She drove it around for about a month getting all of the paperwork together, and fell in love with it...wish she kept it and gave her mother her older car FWIW. Anyway, she thought that car was so much fun to drive, sporty, whatever. the Lexus IS is exactly the same size. A couple of youtoob vid reviews of it, and she now is plotting and planning for a late summer/early fall purchase.

The GS is more Camry/Avalon sized...which is a bit too long, or long-looking, for her tastes.

Yeah, then IS is the perfect car for her. Or how about the new Lexus UX? Small, yet agile, and more practical.

She doesnt like the styling, or cross-overs in general...so.

as you just said...the IS seems to be the perfect car for her. so its the plan to pick a lower mileage used one in the next 12 months.
