LFD Crossbars on stock roof rails?

So came across the LFD Crossbars. You can put them on the stock roof rails. They look pretty decent. I’m looking for a roof rack. Though my 4Runner is 2 weeks old. Not sure I want to completely start taking parts off and do a big upgrade jus yet. Thought these bars would be a nice middle ground for now. You can always later on buy the complete roof system reuse the same crossbars. Anyone tried these or have any info on them? Thanks.

I’ve heard good things about them. I bought them about a month ago. Will probably put them on tomorrow after we wash the 4Runner.

I’m like you, didn’t want to go crazy on the mods and still wanted flexibility if I needed. The LFD’s gave me that. Plus I don’t have to futz with sealing the OEM holes by going full aftermarket and worrying about leaks.

I've had mine for well over a year and I'm happy with them. You can buy the side rails later to get the 7/8 rack if you need more rack space.

Just put the LFD cross bars on the OEM roof rails. Not hard, just need patience and a tallish platform/ladder to get high enough to work. Also, either a pinky or a chopstick to keep the T-nuts in place.

I didn’t put the foam thingy on the fairing. I still have plenty of room in between it and the roof. I was previously planning on putting a strip of black vinyl underneath it, but no need for it.

I have the regular steel bars and have had rust issues on all the bars, so definitely go with the stainless. Significantly more expensive for stainless, so price out what rails you want and then compare it to a full aftermarket rack.

I think this would be location dependent. I’m also in California, but in the SF east bay (inland), so rust isn’t something we have to deal with much. I got the regular metal ones.

Yeah I agree, but you don't really know until it's too late. Can't really send them back at that point so you're stuck with easily rusting rails.

I’m in san diego. No rust issues with the regular Metal ones- you’ll be fine in my opinion.

Just went to a frontrunner Slimline rack for the sole reason of needed more real estate. We offroaded/road tripped the crap out of our LFD bars. They’re legit - well worth the price. Very user friendly and highly configurable. Held our hi-lift, traction mats, an iron-man awning, and a thule roof box like a champ.

Ironically I'm in San Diego too and had all my regular metal ones rust after ~3 mo on the rig, so maybe it's also dependent on the powdercoat batch.

I just bought the Carbon Steel bundle. I only installed the front faring, moved it all the way to the front, and one bar positioned all the way to the back. I have two spare bars. Ask me anything.

No wind noise by the way. If you want pics, I can get them.

I'm in Los Angeles, so the Carbon made more sense to me.

I've had these on mine for three years or so, no rust, look great. I also had my rails painted to match. I've got 5 of the cross bars, with the front one being the wind deflector style. Love them. I have not purchased a RTT but I rented one and mounted it up there, worked great. I have an awning I mount when I need it along the side. I don't want stuff up there all the time, and don't need to mount a bunch of things, so having these solved what I needed.
LFD is awesome! I'd always recommend them.

Just got back from over 100 mile highway drive. No wind noise to report. The front fairing is mounted as close to the front as possible and I didn’t use the rubber foamy thingy.
