Off Road Lights on 2006 Sport-Best Way within reason

Looking to add some lights up front on my 2006 Sport. I have viewed/read just about every thread on bull bars, light bars etc. Then there is the HID or LED etc.

Thought I might have settled on the Steelcraft bull bar but now its only a 2 point mount so its kinda just like all the others now

Looked at the light bars but, honestly, $300+ for a 3 ft bar with tabs is a bit much IMO. They look great but I cant wrap my head around the cost

Then there are guys who just mount some LED in the grille or Roof rack.

I don't off road. I do some beach driving/ surf fishing and go OBX every year so probably the LED is the way to go as I could keep it on longer with less battery drain.

Then there is the "cheap" option of a Hunter Bull and some Amazon LED lights.

I like the LED idea but also like the "look" of the bull bars (yea I know they are just cosmetic)

I am leaning toward the Hunter/Amazon combo but don't want to "waste" $250 on something that will drive me nuts bouncing around and potentially rusting.....

Any suggestion or other options I may have missed?

how much light do you want? have you thought about the ditch brackets cbi makes? brackets are $50, and you can buy decent output cree led lights for under $50 as well.

how much light do you want? have you thought about the ditch brackets cbi makes? brackets are $50, and you can buy decent output cree led lights for under $50 as well.

That's a new picture if my truck, haven't seen that one before. Any who, the ditch lights are the way to go IMO. They are easy to put on and are out of the way. If these were out before I bought my bar I probably would have just had these instead of both. You can put just about any lights on there.

The ditch lights are awesome, I would highly suggest them. Easy to install and they look really good.

Couple led lights makes a huge difference:

I run a small led light bar on the bumper & led pods on each side of the winch.

Sorry for the seemingly dumb question....If I get the brackets, lights, and switch do I still need to get eh fuse,s relays, wiring etc?

Still debating the bar as my 13 year old thinks it cool for when HE get to drive it.

Guess I could get both and mount these Bean lights on both too:decision:

A very functional set up would be going with a bull bar and a set of PIAA 520 ion fog lights. Good light dispersion from those lights.

Another option is to remove the stock fog lights, and install a set of led pods. I suggest the following:

3" 24 Watt LED Cube | Exploration Outfitters

Get the flood option. Installation is simply by drilling a hole in the plastic bumper where the stock lights were, thread the post of the led pod, bolt down with some washers. The light dispersion on these led pods a fantastic for the size.

How did you go about putting your LED's in there? Are they mounted to that cross member?

Zopp-that looks great but my wiring skills etc are...uh...not great.. I can do a kit type thing but a seat of the pants mod with any fabricating is probably a bit over my head. I could handle the ditchlight install but not certain the roof top one is in my wheelhouse. Ill check out that thread on here where someone has some pics though.

Thanks - I made the grille from an 06 and the emblem is from the tailgate of a fifth gen.

As for the light bar, it's pretty easy wiring and "fab" for the brackets, check out my thread on it.

Also check out the thread on the 30" bar in the lower valence. I don't think the ditch lights will give you enough to be happy for beach driving. It's REALLY dark out there.

The CBI is definitely the most "bolt on option" - those little pods are great and all, but they aren't a great improvement over HID headlights - I have HID spots on my CBI's and the 6" rounds put out a ton of light and throw it really far. If you do go with the LED pods I would definitely try and get them in the 2x3 (not 2x2) and in spot beam.
