Limited Bumper Conversion and Sensors

It was a long term plan of collecting parts. I purchased a used front bumper with the mounting brackets, fog lights, clips, and all the other small items related to the front from a member here. As for the rear, I bought one from eBay using those discount codes that have been made available fairly often.

Everything else I got from BAM Wholesale. I used them because of their free shipping for orders over $75 and discount codes on the internet to help bring the price down even more.

Patience was key. I readied myself for the long haul, but the opportunity came up to do the conversion when I got rear ended.

I’m thinking of doing this, but I also wonder: wouldn’t it have been cheaper for someone shopping 4Runners to buy an OR Premium rather than get the more expensive Limited and then do a conversion?

Depends what your after. If you want leather, push start/door handle sensors/remote start, auto lights, jbl 12 speakers.. then limited is the only truck that has it. But i prefer the pro bumpers over the limited bumpers. Used bumper parts is a must for the swap. Also if you plan to lift anyways, it’s a great time to rip out the xreas for a proper lift. Lastly, I like the blizzard pearl color over the super white. It’s only available on the limited [emoji848]

Used 2016 limiteds ~ 30k which is comparable to a 2017 trdorp.

I really like the trdorp, but I wished it had the limited creature features. So limited with bumper swap solves this [emoji12]

I was gonna do the SR5 bumper swap but I changed my mind just because I want to keep the sensors in original form.
To me,it looks unique and better than the pro bumper now.

Mr gainzz, love your car! Inspired me to work on my limited as well. COuld you tell me more about your mods for your wheels. Suspensions? Wheels and tire size? Did you notice any rubbing?

I was gonna do the SR5 bumper swap but I changed my mind just because I want to keep the sensors in original form.
To me,it looks unique and better than the pro bumper now.

I have the 2017 Limited and in a position to do the bumper swap. Curious, for those that did the swap, where did you mount the sensors? And for those that eventually installed the C4 or Southern Style Off Road low profile bumper/winch, did they affect the sensor or did the sensor detect the the bumper, winch, shackles, etc?

Hey, curious what you eventually did. I have to replace both my bumpers on my 2017 limited and seem to have few options but the ARB and the original plastic. Any ideas?

I never got to it. The only thing I did was replace my converted bumper again. Took out a deer and it clipped the very corner, but shattered like glass. Ended up purchasing a pre-painted bumper on-line.

Then life got in the way. Between the wife/kids, work, and home, I had to put it off. Ended up buying a tractor instead for the home.

I’m adding this to my converted bumper soon with sensors. Just need some powder coating first.
