Limited w/ Hood Scoop?

I am in the process of shortly ordering a 2006 4Runner Limited 4x4 V8 because of the Nav and 18" wheels. I love the hood scoop with the Sport Edition. Is there any way I can order my Limited with a hood scoop?

Also, what is an acceptable margin for dealers over the invoice price? I am going off the invoice pricing listed on Edmunds.com. Is $500 or $1000 acceptable? I live in the Southern California area.

If those are the only options in the Limited that you are truly interested in you are better off buying the Sport and adding OEM Nav (~$1600 w/o installation) and the 18" wheels ($900 + tires).

The OEM nav from OEMvalue (if that is what you are referring to) is now $2K. He jacked up the price because the '07 models will only fit into the '07 Camry and 00-05 Avalon.

the 2007 Camry unit that is coming out after this one will ONLY fit 2007 Camry and 2000-2005 Avalon due to it's new tripod like shape, making it near impossible to retrofit another Toyota vehicle.)

Anyway, the nav system that comes with the 4Runner Limited is quite different than the OEMValue version. The LED's are orange instead of green to match the dashboard, it has bluetooth capability along with the steering wheel controls, and it has a 3CD changer which can read MP3 CD's.

when i bought my Limited, I asked the all the dealers about ordering a Limited with a hood scoop.

They all said the same thing, they said I would have to order the limited, and then also order a sport hood. Then they would install it once the truck was here.

I still think if you want to buy the top-o-line 4Runner, a hood scoop should be an option for you.

I ended up not special ordering and just bought a Limited as is. Still hoping that someday I run into a sport owner who hates the scoop and wants trade hoods

Yes.

The Navigation option code is "NV".

And what others have said about the actual Toyota 4Runner NAV unit being far superior to the one OEMValue is selling is true.

Of course, the actual 2006 T4R NAV unit costs around $4,000. :bash:

I would go with a Limited. The cost of "upgrading" a Sport to have all the same bells & whistles is not really possible and even if it was it isn't worth the cost or time.

Yea, I looked at all the features that I would be missing and its not worth giving them up for a hood scoop.

Any good thoughts on what kind of markup I could get away with at a dealership? $500 over invoice?

right there with ya buddy, i wanted the hood scoop too on my limted, but its not an option...i also asked the dealer if you could hookup a sport with all the same stuff as a ltd and the answer was no...FWIW guys, there is no such thing as special ordering with Toyota, they don't do special orders, they make the cars how they make em and thats it,..i went thru a heck of a time trying to find a Blue 2006 with tapue leather and the navi package, it doesn't exist...they dont make em that way. i scanned dealers inventory online one night up and down the east coast, nada. so i finally conatcted toyota directly and they told me that they dont accept special orders...in the end, when i finally found a limted (white) with the taupe leather, i was kind of shocked. For all they did with the styling and technology on this vehicle, they fell short in the interior dept...the taupe interior has the same accents as the gray interior, the dash and door uppers and all the plastic are dark gray, with cream colord seats and carpets...it was the dumbest thing i ever saw....
if theres any way to bulk buy the sport hoods...lemmeknow i may be into it too

Difference = $4,249

18" Limited wheels and tires ~$1,300 (this is what I got mine for shipped, plus I sold my sport wheels for $600, again for illustrative purposes, we'll assume you keep the wheels)

Mounting and Balancing - $75

Aftermarket Nav ~$2,000 (Eclipse, Pioneer, etc..)

Installation of Nav ~$200

This still leaves you with $674 (not assuming hood cost for a Limited or sold sport wheels) to replace the JBL stock system with a pretty substantial stereo or put towards a new exhaust or just to put away.

From what I've read the Eclipse Nav units perform as well or better than the OEM units and you can watch movies while you're taking a road trip.

So, if all you are interested in is navigation and the wheels, a Sport Edition is still your best bet. Just my humble opinion though.

"Special order" for Toyota means getting options not typically seen on a particular model or trim, i.e. navi on Sport or SR-5. Distributors specify configurations available in your area. As an example, in NorCal the only 2WD are V6 SR-5s, V8 Limited 4WDs are the only ones with navi. Toyota will not install options not available on certain trim for another, i.e. leather on a Sport or SR-5, X-REAS on a SR-5, etc.

In order to get the hood scoop, it would probably be post delivery and the dealer will have the parts department install it or you can check with a body shop to see the cost and labor involved on getting a painted Sport hood on your Limited.

The 2006 4Runner navi has Bluetooth, different software (same functionality), and MP3 capable 4-disc CD changer. Adding the OEM navi from OEMvalue is not difficult, but getting a back-up camera like factory is.

I had mine ordered, V6 Limited 4WD with navi, side/curtain airbags, moonroof, spoiler and floormats (didn't order those, but they show up as an option on the sticker). It was $37,500 before TTL and rebates.

It can only be a installed after purchase. The hood alone is $400 and the insulation/hardware is an additional $400 (the non-scoop insulation can't be used). Then you need to paint and install for approx $200. I did see an OEM hood on eBay (unpainted) for less, but you would have to pay shipping and still need the insulation/hardware.

Falls, I'm also thinking about swapping out the smoked chrome grill. Not sure if I want to go for SR5 chrome or body color. The smoked chrome just doesn't match the Titanium paint and always strikes me as looking dirty.

I realize the limited has leather heated seats and air suspension but in nem's original post he made it apparent that he was interested in Nav and the 18" wheels, he said nothing about leather.

Besides even if he did want to add leather you could add up the left over $674 + $600 (for selling the sport wheels) + $1000 (for the new hood, per Koz's post) = $2274. This would easily buy you the better looking TRD heated leather seat install from CST, probably with room left to add an aftermarket air suspension.

Sooo, the numbers still work out.

There is a lot more to the Limited then just the standard heated leather, like exclusive options such as the nav and rear air susp. If you add up all the Limited's features and options you will find that it is worth every penny and priced very competitive compared to its competitors. Also the TRD leather may look better/sportier but the OEM heated seats are much nicer and better quality.

I am definitely here. Thanks everyone for their input. I am interested in the heated leather seats and the power seats with the memory settings that the Limited has. At this point I am going with the Limited. The Limited has other features too like the auto on/off for the headlights that I have gotten spoiled with on my car.

Ultimately it sounds like I would need to spend $800+ for a hood scoop if I ordered the hood, got it painted, insulation installed, and hood installation.

Havent heard yet too much on what type of markup people got over invoice from the dealer. I want to go into the dealer and say "I want $500 over invoice or I am going to the next dealership"

I think people avoid commenting on this because their is no set rule. It is all a matter of what you are willing to pay. Some refuse to pay one penny over invoice (tougher at the begining of a model year), others are willing to give up a $1K max. Also some dealer's will haggle more than others. There is a website www.newcarbuyingtips.com that give a nice spreadsheet as well as loads of advise on how to get a good deal. When I filled out the spreadsheet for my 2005, I ended up with a number about $750 over invoice. After a little more arguing I got down to ~$550. This was also at the end of the model year, and I didn't push too hard, so I probably could have had even a better deal if I was inclined to fight harder for it. It wasn't worth it to me. For some, it is a must.
