hey does anyone know of a company that makes a lockbox for our 3rd gen runners? i looked at tuffy but they really didnt have anything that was accessible to the driver. i want something that i can store a gun and a few small electronics in (gps, xm receiver, radar). i was hoping to find something that would replace or fit in our center console. but under the seat would work to if i cut that bar thats there. i know the glovebox has a lock but i have that full of other crap and i wanted something a bit closer.

I read somewhere in another thread that many insurance companies will not reimburse for stolen firearms.

Doesn't surprise me but it should be covered under your homeowners insurance if the auto policy doesn't cover it.

Not to lecture anyone but generally it's a really bad idea to leave your gun in the car unattended. If mine is making the trip with me, it's staying with me the whole time. I'd much rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Agreed. Especially from a liability standpoint. 12 year old breaks into your car for quarters in your center console. Finds gun. Shoots random person or himself. Sues you. You lose. Or you don't lose, but are never insurable again.

And believe me, I am not an Alex Jones believer!

Just seems risky. Especially if you live around people.

Maybe it's just me, but if you're going to take your gun with you in the vehicle, you should probably keep it on your person where you can keep track of it. Chancing it in a lockbox in your truck seems irresponsible.

I am not a gun advocate by an stretch. Or anti-gun. However, I think it kind of defeats the purpose of CC if you have it locked up. That is unless you don't have a CC and are just going to the range. In that situation I think I would just put it in that worthless area in the back of the cargo area.

However, I guess if you are carrying it to work, you can't bring it into work with you. So that is where a lock box comes in.
