I am not a gun advocate by an stretch. Or anti-gun. However, I think it kind of defeats the purpose of CC if you have it locked up. That is unless you don't have a CC and are just going to the range. In that situation I think I would just put it in that worthless area in the back of the cargo area.

However, I guess if you are carrying it to work, you can't bring it into work with you. So that is where a lock box comes in.

I'm not anti-gun either, but if you're carrying it to work and need to leave it outside in the vehicle, why are you bringing it to work in the 1st place?

I would mostly use it for electronics. My gun would only been in it when I go camping I don't want it thrown in the back I want it securely locked up. I cant carry at work so it stays at home.

some places dont let you carry not matter what, even if you are a CC holder, unless you are LE. i carry with my almost everywhere i go, even to church. and yes i would always take my pistol with me to work when i worked at BMW and other places... i could not take it into work with me so it remained locked up in my vehicle. but i didnt always go strait home from work either and you never know who your gonna meet, whos to say someone isnt gonna try and car jack you on the way to work or the way home... just how i look at it. but yes haveing a secured lockable container is a good idea if you want to keep you valuables, even for cell phones, GPS, and or your stereo faceplate when you go out to eat or shopping...

I used to have one of those. It's another 'pry open with a screwdriver' box. You could beat the Fort Knox box with a sledgehammer and not get it open. For $10 more you get a real safe box.

Maybe it's just me, but if you're going to take your gun with you in the vehicle, you should probably keep it on your person where you can keep track of it. Chancing it in a lockbox in your truck seems irresponsible.:shrug:

This 111%. Either leave it at home or it's on you, no in between.

this thread got pretty off topic so let me reiterate, i want a box i can keep my electronics in when im not in the car like gps, radar, xm, ipods. i would only be using it for my gun if im camping and want it to be put away. so back to the main topic of helping me find a decent cheap lock box. thanks guys

We already did. Holster. If you're camping there shouldn't be much need to lock the other stuff up.

Yeah I just remember seeing lock boxes for jeeps that replace the center console and glove box perfectly. Hoped we had one.
