locking rear diff FOR '04 SR5

after 2 weeks of searching, i couldn't seem to locate a thread that showed anyone whos done a successful swap from an FJ. my question would be how much mods would need to be done? i read the thread on toyota120 where the 3rd member was removed and the housing was grinded. i would love to avoid any grinding and find the best plug and play option. any thoughts?

I have looked as well - Pretty much your only other option is an ARB. At least from what I have found.

Check in to zipp lockers with an ARB compressor.... Saved me some money and they offer a much better warranty. Worth checking out.

Chances are it will be much more of a direct sway and more reliable than jerry rigging an FJ diff in.

Its not an electronic rear diff, but you get a compressor under the hood which is nice for on board air.

you might be able to find an 09 trail rear axle and swap it in. dont know if you can order the parts from toyota. or arb

Thanks for all the replies. I think the ARB will be the choice. What's the cheapest place to purchase? I would do the 09 trail swap but that's harder to find than putting it in.

There was recently a group buy, but i'm guessing if enough interest happens you might be able to pull off another one.
