Looking at 22"s for my 97... need help on fitment!!

Hey guys im about to buy a set of 22" DUB Mogul's for my 1997 Toyota 4runner limited.

The rim shop owner asked me if my truck has locking hubs... which i discoverd it dosent.

However... he also mentioned something about if the hub sticks out or something along those lines...

does anyone here have a 97-98 4runner sitting on big rims and if so... was there any problems wth fitment?

I basically need to know if I will be able to put these 22x9.5 rims on my ride...

The width is too wide and I think 20" might be as big as you can go and with that big of wheels I suggest bigger brakes cause the stock ones aren't that impressive with the stock wheels on it and with oversize rims you're asking for trouble.

you can fit 22's but i deffinitly agree with the brakes

those arent too wide, the enkei deep6 are 20 x 9.5, im sure u can put those 22's on, i did post a pic of a 4runner with 24's http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14716

also juss get stoptech brakes, the FRONT KIT: 355 x 32 mm Rotor/ 4 Piston Caliper, bigger brakes are better, u can also do the FRONT KIT: 332 x 32 mm Rotor/ 4 Piston Caliper but i think that would be not enough brakin power for the rims, im sure theres members here with big rims can help u also

Yes you can fit up to a 22" wheel on a stock 4runner 96-98. I'm actually looking into swapping my 20's for 22's on my 98'. Tires is the only thing. I've seen runners with 285/35 or 40/22 tire all the way around, but I think they may rub in the front. My idea was to go 275/35/22 up front and 285's in the rear. Hope this helps, let me know if you find anything else out, I'd like a know for my own reference.

I run 22x9.5 with a 285/35/22 tire on my '98 limited, never had any rubbing problems...prolly should upgrade the brakes tho...

Hey guys...just wanted to repost on tire size. I did some research on tire size width. You cannot run to different width tires on a 4x4 or all wheel drive vehicle. (i.e. 305's on rear 285's on front)
Apparently it can mess up your difs and your tranny. This is what I've heard from some race and mechanic friends, let me know if you guys find anything else out.
