Looking at a 1996 SR5 with 227k miles

Looking at a 1996 SR5 with 227k miles this weekend. Its white with tan leather and a one owner. Zero rust or accidents. Maintenance has been kept up and is very clean. Timing belt was done last year.

I've had a '97 Cruiser and we currently have an '06 Sport V8. I know the reliability of these rigs when maintained, but have no idea on pricing. He's asking $5,250 but I'm think more $3,750....what are your guys thoughts on pricing?

I bought this past January a 99 Limited 4X4 with 222K (Now has 234K), excellent condition, dealer maintained, picked it up for $5,000 (Which was a great deal), so keeping that in mind I personally wouldnt pay anything over $4,000 and
 
The price seems high. I would not go over 3500 and would start at 3200 and point out it does not have the locking rear differential or sun roof and work from there. Keep in mind it has been detailed to make it look better with hopes of bringing up the price.
 
a few weeks ago I bought a 96 SR5 with 210k for 4300. clean one owner with all the big maintenance items recently done. It runs great I'd say I paid a good price considering how much other comparable runners are being listed for in my area. mine has the sunroof too haha.

That looks really clean though but 5200 is wayyy to high regardless of how clean it may seem
 
Yeah, I know the price is high and it's been listed for a few weeks already. I'm going to offer him $3k to start but be willing to go as high as $3.5K if needed. $100's setting in front of him will hopefully make it happen. Will post up if it goes through.
 
Well, the rig was clean but the guy wouldn't drop from $5k...the search continues, no rush though which is nice.
 
I just bought my 99 SR5 for 3k. 234k, front drivers seat leather is horrible but everything else is good. Timing chain and water pump done last year. For what it's worth.
 
just bought a 97 in Colorado Springs. got it for 2700 cash and it had 234k but had all major maitinence done with in the last 10k. i found alot of good deals i that area.
 
See if he'll take $4,000. It looks very clean and well kept. Even the leather is tear free. I wouldn't let the miles be an issue. I'd rather take a 1 owner car with 200,000k+ over a car with 3+ owners with 100,000k+. They are usually in better condition.
 
I paid $5500 for mine with 185k and it will need a timing belt next spring and the throwout bearing is also making some noise. I may have paid a bit too much, but I sold the tires to make some of that back. I'm also in the Denver area.

Given the maintenance history and condition, I think $4500 would be a good deal, $5000 would be acceptable if it's got all the options you're looking for. It's hard to make the call on pricing since some people just luck into a screaming deal (examples in this thread). If you've got the time to wait around for a deal, great. Usually when I buy a car I'm in a hurry. :o
 
It was clean but missing a few options that would be a plus. If the tires were better maybe $4-4.5k would make sense but tires add another $600+ to the price
