Looking for 3D models

I want to try my hand at designing a new front bumper but I don't have a 3D scanner to scan my truck.

Does anybody know of a good quality 3D model that includes the under-body components like the frame, radiator, etc.?

I don't have the info you're looking for but am interested in how this process works. Are you just modelling the front end for concept or somehow planning on producing from the model?

Most likely you are not going to find this. My two cents are to find 3D scanning companies in your area and see what they would charge to do it for you.

I measured for my bumper with a tape measure and some cardboard.

Both, I want to model the concept and run simulations to see how different ideas affect angles of attack.

In British Columbia, Canada, we have some crazy motor vehicle rules about replacing OEM equipment with non-OEM. Some of the rules are so ridiculous that they actually make some aspects more dangerous. So most aftermarket bumpers that I can buy, even the ones made by Coastal Offroad (which is based in BC), would not pass a vehicle inspection.

After modeling, I want to use the model to generate the cut lists for a cnc machine that I can access.

I started with using cardboard and tape, but found the process tedious and time consuming. I'm much faster on the computer. I also use my truck on an almost daily basis, so taking the bumper off for a week while I play with cardboard cutouts is not an option.

Just thought maybe I would ask in case somebody else had done this already.

I did find a company locally that does have a 3d scanner with the resolution I need, but they want around 1k for each end.

For that kind of money, I could probably build my own 3d scanner... lol

I guess I should say I used a tape measure to make a 3D model in Solidworks of the truck's front end. I was able to trace the curve of the front end (headlights and grill) with cardboard and made a grid system of measurements to then input that curve into Solidworks. Then I was able to design and tweak the bumper in Solidworks until I was happy. I created a cardboard model of the bumper during a weekend as my truck was my only vehicle at the time and roughly verified fitment. I had the sheet metal cut out at work with a plasma table and welded it the next weekend.

You don't need to account for the radiator or anything like that, just create a plate to mount to the truck with the correct hole spacing, and the other important measurement is the height of the body from the frame, and then the curve of the body under the headlights and grill.
