Looking for a quick over night get away suggestions SoCal

Usually overland trips for me include week long trips out of state. So I'm not to familiar with the local area, Orange County. I'm looking to do an over night trip this weekend 8/4, Will be sleeping in a ground tent and want vehicle access. Looking for a place that has camp spots available, not to far of a drive 4 hours, and somewhere that isn't going to be super hot. Spent the past hour on CA State Parks, but a lot of the camp sites look like concrete jungles. Does anyone have suggestions? Or did I spoil myself to much with camping in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado?

I was thinking that but wasnt it just on fire? Any good spots to look up?

I think I'm just going to hit up Crab Flats, or Dogwood if there's open spots. Can anyone recommend easy fun scenic trails since I'll be the only vehicle. Or anything worth checking out.

When i lived n Apple Valley , Big Bear was always fun ! Used to be some nice places outside of it to camp-out ?

You live 2 hours from Baja. Summer so best to stay on the pacific side as it is not as hot as San felipe side. Awesome pine forest between Mexicalli and ojos negros. On the pacific side 3 hours south of the border is Erindia on the beach.
Cold Tecate and caso tacos. Endless trails to explore in Baja.

Sounds amazing, I haven't been in awhile. But one rule I've always stuck by is never bring a girl a to Mexico. With all the horror stories I've heard. I would never want that to happen to someone. Even though the times I've been I've never had a problem.
