What going on all, Been trying the search on here looking for any manual swap builds, when I pull the body on my 98 for a frame swap I'd like to go with a manual, I do have a 97 Tacoma with a 5 speed not sure if i can use that transmission , any info on what all id would need to get for this , Appreciate your folks help. John

If the engines match (both 4's or both 6's), it should be an easy swap.

You will need the ECU from the donor vehicle too. Engines and trans will mate together just fine, but if you're putting manual transmission in a vehicle that had an automatic before...it won't work right unless you also swap the ECU.

The transmission and transfer case should work, but you may run into some problems with the ECU and the wiring. In 97 the auto and manual ECU's had different shaped plugs, in 98 the ECU's are the same although they are programmed differently for auto and manual transmissions. I swapped a body from a manual 98 onto my manual 97 frame due to the 97 having been previously rolled and salvage titled. So much stuff was different it was unbelievable. You will probably have to swap ECU's, the dash wiring harness, the engine wiring harness and possibly the engine compartment wiring harness. Or if you are really good at wiring you can change some connectors and re-pin everything.
