hey everyone, the wife and i are thinking about buying another 4runner, we want a 99 highlander(non limited, SR5 preferably), 5spd, moonroof, factory Elocker, and or TRD supercharger(take a non locking for one with a supercharger, as an ARB is cheaper than the supercharger). our color choices are black, sliver or bright red. i dont like the black only because of the "keeping it clean" issue, but they look majestic all clean and detailed. the bright red would be her first choice, but they are not that common and i dont think ive ever seen a red 99 highlander. so i think silver will be the most reasonable option. this will be a DD, and second vehicle for her in bad weather and for road trips, it wont be wheeled and wont be lifted, or modded other than some sliders and other things for looks and appearance (the rear locker will just be for the proverbial "what ifs" or sh*t hits the fan ect.)

anyhow im looking for pics of a black 3rd gen with these wheels trd_black03_enl.jpg

this might help sell me on the black color.

thanks guys

99 Highlander were only available in black or the hunter green. 2000 model year was also available in the Millennium Silver Metallic.

Toyota 4Runner Highlander Information

and not exactly what you are looking for, but figured I would throw this out since I noticed it the other day....

2000 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR5 SPORT PKG 4X4 MANUAL TRD SUPERCHARGED*********

that thing is way over priced., and while i like the green, the wife doesnt so it will never happen. are you sure that the 99 highlander never came in a silver? cause i was looking at the dealers color guide and it shows the silver offered

According to the site I referenced they did not. I also never found (or even seen) one in my search. Since the MSM matched the IS300 that I had at the time, I figured it would save me some money at the body shop if both vehicles were the same color, :lmao: so that was my preferred color option. Now I'm just happy the silver hides the small scratches better than a darker color would.

thats why i want the silver, but maybe ill have to stick with the 2000. does anyone know if they are still the same height as the 99s?

Yeah it was only available in those 2 colors that year.

I am also thinking about selling mine and trying to find an 01-02 for the AWD ability. 99.9% of my "off road" driving is on ice... I kinda need AWD.

They were not, ... mine was the standard "low rider" 2000 model springs. The good news is that by now those sweet 99 tall springs would be sagged anyway. Buy a 2000 and throw some 99 tallss on front and OME 906's on the rear (if you plan to ever put anything in the back) and call it a day.

As far as the different coil heights between the '99 and '00 models were that all Highlander models should have the taller coils but in '00 they started to use the shorter ones as the model year went along.

yeah i know after 99 they started to drop the height, i just wasnt sure if that ment the highlander as well... oh well i guess i will be looking for a 2000, now that i look at them more, i will just put a new set of 99 talls in it. wilson, i too am liking the awd aspect of it, but i want(well she wants and thats ok by me) the 5spd, so that is a must.

but back to the initial posting, does anyone have pics of a black runner with those wheels? preferably a 99 tall but ill take anything
