Looking for suggestions on tires for mostly highway use.

I have a 2006 v8 4runner.
The tires that came on it when I bought it a few years ago are seeming sad and one has quite a leak.
I’m looking for suggestions on brands for the 265/70/17 size. Mostly freeway.
The 4runner rarely sees dirt and when it does it’s usually a fire road or sand.
Not that it makes a big difference but we go to the snow once or twice a year.

I’m planning on focusing funds to my fj60, that said, I will need some tires for the 4runner. Not trying to sacrifice too much quality.

Michelin LTX MS2. Great all around tire that last longer than any others. I am on my 3rd set with different vehicles and every set has lasted over 100k. The set on my 4runner are at 101k and doing to e in the am her snow. Will be putting on a new set in about 10k miles probably.

I have Michelin AT2's with 30k on them and they will probably last another 40k-50k by the looks the tread still left on them. Unfortunately I want bigger tires.

Every set of Michelin's I have owned, on 4Runners and other SUVs, the tires have cracked on the sidewalls.
They are not worth it as far as I’m concerned. I bought a set of Nitto Durra Grapplers for my 2WD SR5. My son has driven it to Colorado three times to go snowboarding and got along great. They are quite and rated for 60K miles.

Super happy with Destination AT's. Great wet and snow traction, I've got 60K miles on mine and they have another 10K min. MS2's are really nice but lack the AT look.

It's hard to beat the Michelins. They cost a little more up front, but well worth the mileage you get from them.

I have the Cooper Discoverer HTP tires and have no complaint. Mind you, I am in Sunny Florida so I can’t say how well they will do in snow conditions but they have gripped welll during the rainstorms and a hurricane aftermath.

we only drive on the highway, with some snow covered roads and the occasional gravel driveway and I have run Hankook Dyna Pro's on every SUV i have had. multiple Land cruisers and 4runners etc.. they have always worked great and lasted a very long time!

My requirements were identical when I bought he same tires Gatafly suggested, with ride comfort and efficiency as priority.
After 14 months I just hit the 10k mark and so far I've been happy. This year we only saw moderate snow in Central IL and they performed well, although I was able to break the wheels free easily if I intentionally gave it too much gas. That said, I did have to drive on the highway during a sleet/freezing rain storm and I did feel secure.

I wish they had a more rugged look to them, but that's only because after seeing all the awesome builds on the page, I'm a little self-conscious of my stock mall cruiser.

I love my Michelin’s. I’ve had many sets over the years on various trucks and suvs. They last forever and ride smooth and quiet. And great all around traction. I recommend them to slot of people and they are all happy. I’ve ran them in snow and they are very good. I always have Blizzaks though on all my stuff for winter.

My dad has a pair of Michelins 265/70/17 on his 05 4Runner. He loves them. He does a lot of highway driving and likes the ride comfort as well as the lack of noise from them. I'm running some 265/70/17 All Terrain tires and he likes the look of them but not the sound and comfort.
I'd recommend some Michelins if you're looking for highway driving with minimal noise

Thumbs up for the Michelin's from me too! Either the LTX or the Defenders.

Started running Michelin's on my '05 right after the OEM dunlops wore out at 35k. Never had any issues at all with sidewall cracking, like another member mentioned. Superior all-around tire IMO.

I put Yokohama Geolanders on my 4runner last summer and they are magically quiet on the highway, handle great wet or dry. Not idea for snow, but I mostly drive highway so I'm very happy with them.

I have coopers st Maxx on my Titan and the dealer friend said try Mastercraft, less expensive cooper made tire. I put them on my 4runner and I have to say I Have to say road noise is good and its still good for snow. I am tired of the mud tires, this truck is mainly on the road. Its a good all around tire.

I agree. I've had three sets of Michelin LTX 265s over the years. I get 60,000+ miles on them. Quiet on the highway, great traction on wet roads and snow. The last set was over 5 years old and getting some tiny cracks on sidewalls, but under warranty by America's Tires. So I got a great credit for each tire to get new ones.
