Looking for the Goldilocks of 4th Gen Front Bumpers

Hey All, I have to admit, currently my 4Runner is more about form than it is function - although over time I am hoping to change that.

I always thought about putting on a bull bar or light bar but have been a bit turned off by how much they tend to stick out and frankly hurt approach angles. On the other hand I'm not a total fan of hard core pre-runner style bumpers.

That's right - I'm looking for something in between - the Goldilocks bumper. The closest I've seen is one custom fabricated by happysmiley for his 2WD that is currently on Ryan04's rig and looking great!

Anyone know of something similar? I'd happily trim the center section out of my bumper for such a great look! Although I looked at my bumper and the front lower center appears to be square rather than angles up and in.

That set up looks great, looks like a ton of planning and time. Great idea, tons of room for a winch too.

Im currently trying to figure out how to make these bumpers work with 4wd. On 2wd, theres no diff mounts that get in the way of mounting the lower tubes without directly welding them to the frame. I could make one for 2wd for sure, 4wd, not so sure yet. I do have a few ideas Im gonna try out soon though.

Distinct Off-road ...I showed him a picture of this a few months back and he said he could and would do it no problem. He made my front bumper light bar there's a thread on here with this topic of him making it ..he just needs a 2wd,4wd runner to use and mock it up. He lives in New Mexico I've been contemplating on going and just taking vacation time to make it happen. He said if a few people want it he will do it.

Well it looks as though your the closest neighbor to the mojavemadman take a putt on over and donate the rig to make it happen..lol.
He was or still is an air force pilot and has been fabricating bumpers,light bars etc for tacomas,runners,fj etc he's got "mad" skills for sure

Hey thanks for the bump and good words!!!! Ya I am in the Air Force but I not a pilot. Opposite actually; I work in maintenance.

As far as making these bumpers, I honestly have no plans to anymore. They are very good looking bumpers and I 100% understand why people want them! I am just in a situation where it is very hard for me to find shop time. My job requires a lot of me and I get a small amount of family time with my kids already. So peeling away and working in the shop is difficult for me to do.

However, from a fabrication stand point I can tell you guys these are not too hard to make! Any fabricator that can make rock sliders can make these. If you take these pics to your local guy I am sure one can be made for around $400. Especially if you live in Southern CA, there are fab shops everywhere down there. If you guys have someone near San Fransisco I bet you could get Jerry at BAMF (Bay Area Metal Fabrication) to make a run of these for a group of you guys. He does stuff like this a lot and has the tools to mass produce. He actually does plasma cutting for me haha.

There we go, that's exactly what I'd be interested in; knocking out that center support and putting a light bar in there.
