Looking to buy 4runner. this is what im thinking. any opinions?

Whats going on. looking to get into a 1997 4runner. this is at the top of the list but i dont know about the price. can anyone give me some input. Hope the link works, 1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 5 Speed Manual 3.4L V6 4WD 5VZFE i went to check it oout and the thing looks flawless. interior is absolutly perfect and engine looks clean with a good car fax. how much would you pay?

I checked the NADA book value (NADA is the new/used car dealer bible).
The retail in clean condition (the best) is $5725.
You want to pay as close to that as possible, less if possible.

It's nice, but extremely overpriced. The 5sp is not that rare, especially for that year. And if it doesn't have a locker, than its really not worth more than $5k...try and get them down as much as possible. Has the timing belt and water pump been changed? If not, it's due and that's $300-700 depending on who does the labor.

As reference, I paid 5k for a 98 with 156k last year.
