Looking to get 5" - 5 1/2" of lift

Hey guys, i've always wanted a lift kit for my ride, so i was doing some research and i found the best seller on toyteclifts.com here. But doesn't my truck already have coils on it? If it does then i only need the spacers (like this & this), not the full package like i showed you above, right?

Secondly, will i be able to put another 2.5" or 3" inches of lift ... making it 5 1/2" or 6" of lift total? Would someone please post a couple links to the items i'd need to do around 6" of lift? Thanks :D:D:D

the coils you would buy from toytec would be a lift spring which would give you about three inches. then you could do a body lift and or a 2 inch spacer on top of your OME coils
 
for 33's you only need 3 inches. if you want 35's you will need atleast 6 unless you want to do some major trimming. when going that big you run into many more issues including regearing (not necessary if you have 4.10s, atleast not in a manual), diff drop, and extending alot of other lines.
 
Here's some thoughts for ya... You can't go higher than 3" suspension lift w/o doing a drop CV lift which are expensive and in no way worth the $$ IMO. Your best bet is a 3" suspension with a 2" body lift which with some trimming will allow up to 35s. You can get by liftng with spacers only on top of your stock coils but your travel will be limited and it will wear your coils and cause sagging faster than normal. Lift coils are much better for performance, but the spacers will do if it's just for looks.

I would stay away from going above 3-4" total if you're just gonna run 33s. The center of gravity is already high on stock 4runners. Adding another 2" on top of a suspension lift is only going to make your truck tip over easier and if you're not doing it specifically to clear 35s, it's not a good idea IMO.

If it's for looks, get some 2.5" spacers, maybe a 1" BL at most and some 33s. If it's an off road rig, I would get 3" lift coils, a 1" BL and 33s OR... 3" lift coils, 2" BL and 35s.
 
I think the diff drop is pretty much mandatory for over a 2" sus lift, so yes. You may want extended brake lines and/or a pan hard drop or an adjustable pan hard bar. I have a 3" sus lift and I did not need these extras because at full flex either side, my brake line is not stretched. An adjustable pan hard bar/pan hard drop will center your rear axle again after the lift. On mine, it is like a 3/16" difference so it just isn't a big concern for me, but some say it will make your rear end feel squirrely without doing this. Mine feels fine without it so on these items I say, wait till you get the lift on and see if it's necessary.

Don't bother trying to do all suspension, go with what everyone is saying 3" suspension the rest body. personally I wouldn't go with more that 1" body but I only wanted 33's and the lift did that, now I just want some additional clearance.

don't forget to take pics from start to finish so we can drool and congratulate you when your done.

What year is it? I highly recommend lift coils not spacers. Are you building a parking lot Queen or a off roader? Spacers are a cheap way to lift but the ride is not as good and you will end up replacing your coils sooner or later anyway. You will want the diff drop and I would recommend extending the brake lines if you are going to wheel with it.

My 4r is a '97 242k miles and I have OME front and rear and the ride is great, wheels great, and for less than $800 new for the kit the money was well spent.

Great Choice for a good looking runner! just a heads up, the Toytec one does NOT come with a bumper relocation bracket to drop the front bumper. The rear is attached to the body so it will move with the body, but if you have a trailer hitch, that will stay in the same spot also,

I have seen some people be able to turn their trailer hitches upside down though and it fits nice on a 1"?? or 1.5"?? inch body lift...
 
Ah awesome! You guys are so helpful! Thank you! It's a 98 4runner, 209K miles and still going strong! It will most likely be a parking lot queen haha, i hardly do any off roading
 
I've actually been looking for help on here recently with lift and tires. Planning to build mine near the end of summer. Mine will be built with the intention of taking it offroad though. The only comment I would make on everybody's advice is to get front and rear lift coils. This will prevent sag on both the front and rear, and because its only 3" suspension you should be able to avoid the drop CV lift, brake line extension, etc... as brian2sun mentioned. Once you go over 3" suspension, most of these extras would be needed. On top of 3" susp. you could go w/ a 1 or 2" body. IMO a 3" susp. w/ 1" body & 33s looks pretty tight. There's a bunch of threads on here that display pics of guys' rides. I'd suggest looking around and finding a goal of what you want yours to look like and then building off of that height and tire. And obviously you would't have to put a lift on with the same offroad prowess as someone offroad capable with similar height. Make sure you post pics in the process and good luck with everything!

Do you think i should get this pair of front OME coils before i buy the 3" Kit w/spacers?
