Loose lug nut after tire rotation

I had my tires rotated today at 10k and the shop where I go said after they rotated the tires they test drove it and then rechecked the lugs and one was loose. I am running SCS wheels and was wondering if this is a common occurrence. I recall reading another post awhile back and a guy had a wheel fall off and I believe he was running SCS wheels. I do not have a lift or run spacers. Has me feeling a little paranoid.

I could be wrong but my guess is that they may have over looked it. I have SCS wheels. No issues. They should be torque to 85 ft pounds when rotated and mounted and I would check again at 50 miles.

Also, if I recall, you cannot use stock lug nuts with the SCS wheels? OP, are you using OEM lugs or aftermarket?

I am not using original lugs. I have the ones Vin recommended. SCS requires a more narrow lug. I watched the guy working on my truck and he did not appear to miss any nuts the first time he tightened them.

not sure about your wheels .. most times the lugs will loosen depends on how clean the rotors are. wire brush rotor then clean off any wheel debris..

another factor lugs and high powered air guns that can cause the studs to crack then lug nut is loose..

these toyota studs are soft steel the softest I have ever worked..

I would buy torque wrench and check them every month or so ..

IMO 80 ft lbs ..

Never had any issue with SCS lug nuts

I agree with [MENTION=138935]catrains[/MENTION]—don't let those guys run the gun on your lugs

If alternating pattern was used and none were missed check your wheel studs. It is possible that you have a bad one. It wont likely to spin but it might be overstretched if impact gun was used to tighten.
