I finally finished up my install for the 2018 competition season and wanted to share.

2012 Toyota 4Runner
Head Unit – Kenwood DNX994S
Processor – Helix DSP Pro MK2
Amps – Zapco Z150.6 AP, Zapco Z400.2 AP, Zapco Z400.2 AP
Front stage – Audible Physics RG100 and RG tweeters, Morel Elate Ti MW9’s
Rear fill – Audible Physics Ram 3a
Subs – Morel Ultimo Ti SC 12’s
Cables / wires – Straight Wires, Blue Jean Cables, Knu Konceptz
Batteries – XS Power D3400 and D3400R
Sound deadening – Blackhole Tiles, Sound Barrier MX-4, KnuKonceptz, Stinger, etc…

Tuning – Steve Cook of Audio X

Install – Pillars and doors by Steve Cook at Audio X. Rear pods by Printed Acoustics. Battery Covers, Voltage Gauge and Helix Director by Ed Rice and Darin Laughard. Everything else by owner.

That's a lot of sound deadening. I used over 90sq ft in mine, basically 3 boxes of Stinger Roadkill Expert, only surface that isn't covered was the inside skin of the doors where the speakers mount to. I love how it sounds completely deadened, even though I'm not planning on doing a stereo in the 4Runner any time soon. I was running 2 Zapco DC360.4 (later swapped one out for a DC500.1), two pairs of Zapco CK 5.25 components, and 2 JL Audio 8W0s. Signals came from a Pioneer P99RS. Speakers were active, and all tuning was done using Zapco's onboard DSP. Was the best sounding system I had built, yet

That's a lot of sound deadening. I used 90sq ft in mine, only surface I didn't cover was the inside skin of the doors where the speakers mount to. That sounds like a really nice setup.

As for the sound deadening, my floor has another layer of sound deadening under what is pictured, regular aluminum backed deadener. The doors have two layers on the inner skin (as well as wood covering the holes), a layer on the plastic door panel, plus a box of black hole tiles on the outer skin along with some aluminum backed deadener. In total I probably have a couple grand worth of deadening.

It's almost as quiet as a stock 4Runner now. :naughty:

Great attention to detail and the wiring work; top notch. Used to be an IASCA judge way before was into 4x4's. Many an hour late at night build, working glass and RTA's. Great stuff!

I was gonna ask about the deadening, I think the truck stock is pretty quiet. Did you notice a huge difference when you added it all?

Yes, there has been a very noticeable difference while driving but most of it has been done to keep the vehicle as quiet as possible during judging.

Thank you. I have an IASCA and MECA competition in Alabama this weekend, both 3X. I'm mostly a MECA guy but I enjoy Iasca as well.

Thank you. The doors were done by Steve Cook at Audio X in Florence, AL. He very carefully cut the old grills out then made some press fit metal grills. I am still amazed at how nice they turned out.
