Lurching when backing up

Today when I backed out of my parking spot, under its own power the truck has been stuttering/lurching on its own. The revs and engine sounded normal so it seems like it is a transmission problem. I have felt it every time I have done any reversing all day and I have felt it a few times going forward without using any skinny pedal.

It feels sort of like the truck is stopping and starting momentarily (like if you have ever ran out of gas on the road its the same sensation). Anyone have any ideas on what this might be? Am I near the end of the line for this transmission or would a fluid change help?

Hmm I'll grease the driveline. The idle is fine, no surging at all with the engine. Definitely feels like transmission or rear end.

The best way I can describe it is when you normally back up without using the gas, it's smooth. When my truck is doing it, it seems like the truck will stop/stumble for a second and the. Go back a few inches and do the same thing. It is like a reoccurring linear lurch

IAC clean? Any hiccups elsewhere under load/at idle? TPS new/old?

Seems if this only occurs in reverse, with the wheels turned (I'm assuming) at idle. The engine has trouble compensating with the extra load placed. The hiccup would seem linked to an idle drop/compensation delay or difficulty.

That's what put my mind to IAC, TPS, or similar.

Wheels are not turned, again my idle is staying constant and the same as it has always been. Feels like binding somewhere behind the engine

Well it turns out I am wrong, the truck was misfiring! It got really bad today so I stopped by the mechanic, he turned it on and the check engine light came up immediately!

Weird that the idle wouldn't be rough and it drove normally with a misfire. But great for an easy fix (hopefully.)
