Hey all,

This is my first post and I just wanted to comment on my buying experience at Lustine Toyota in Woodbridge, VA. I had a great experience with them. I dealt with Edguardo as my sales person and also ran into Mike (one of the sales managers). I purchased a 2K4 V6 SE in Stratosphere Mica for a couple hundred under invoice. I had to haggle for about 2 hours but they beat the last dealer by a couple hundred to push me below invoice even more. My runner came with the wireless headphones/rear deck control, but they did not have the remote control with the vehicle. Also they only had 2 of the 3 keys that was promised to me at the time. This did not pose a problem because they wrote me a "We Owe" note and in a couple of days I had the 3rd key and the wireless remote control. Well, I couldn't be happier with my new 4Runner.

Be sure to get that key programmed into the computer before you need it to start the truck.

oh yeah, they took care of all that when they cut the key. i've tested and all the keys work perfectly. they also sent me a plastic key that i can keep in my wallet in case i lock myself out. i have to get it cut and it won't start the car because it doesn't have the chip, but it's a nice thing to have if you lock yourself out...

Will that plastic key open the driver door ok without setting off the alarm etc.? I had one of these for my last vehicle. It was a credit card type thing with a key cutout that was attached by a tab at the end. You could fold out the cut out key and use it just like a regular key. I'd love to get one for the 4runner. It makes carrying an extra key easy. Really got rid of that sinking feeling of looking in and seeing your keys dangling from the ignition.

I'm not entirely sure if it will set off the alarm, but I'm betting that it will. In any case, I'd rather have the alarm wailing than be locked out. Plus I could always disable the alarm when I finally get the keys from inside the car :

What you are describing sounds exactly what they mailed out to me. Maybe it's a new thing the dealers are doing...
