Dells are terrible now. Vista killed them. My gf had to get her money back after her inspiron 1525 was f-ing up like that was its job. My Dell desktop (Windows XP) is 4 years old with no problems. Maintenance is definitely necessary though. Anytime I have a problem, I just remove the last thing installed or downloaded. I just upgraded my memory too which was as easy as switching out a blown fuse. Apparently PCs and file sharing programs don't always get along and now I do absolutely no file sharing. I got rid of IE7 and went with Firefox because my IE8 upgrade kept generating error messages. At this point my next computer purchase will probably be a Mac because of my experiences with PCs. The ones I use at work are all POS
 
I love my macbook! I did use a PC for about a decade... even built my own!... so noone can say im biased as if ive only used mac. i actually bought my first mac - a powerbook g4 1ghz 15" aka tibook - used from my relative for $500(it was originally $3k). it was already 3yo when i bought it in 2005 and it was as fast as my 2.53ghz P4! I sold it a year later AT A PROFIT and purchased a black macbook which has had no issues at all so far.

No offense to those who use PCs but most often than not they are crap... usually crap products with windows and all that other crap software installed in the PC. Software has always been the most important aspect of any machine, and mac has been dominating that part for years. theres a reason why mac sales have been climbing every year... because people found out how great osx is and how crappy windows is.

We all own 4Runners because of capability, reliability, quality, etc. Why not forward that thinking onto our appliances?

Looking at all of the mods you've made to your 4Runner it is most definitely not a MAC. You couldn't make that many hardware mods to a MAC. I think your 4Runner is a PC.:lmao:
 
With PCs it really helps to either be a bit of a computer geek or know someone that is a PC tech which my best friend is one of those geeks so he keeps my machine in line if needed and he has access to plenty of programs for me to "borrow".

I'm running an HP G60-235DX with Vista and it's been very solid platform for my uses. Our home PC is alot more powerful and is setup for gaming and in 7 years and plenty of upgrades we've never had any major issues. We also don't run Vista on the home since it's too buggy to install on an existing computer and just stick with Windows XP.

I know Macs are a more reliable platform with your average consumer but the cost vs what you get kept me with a PC.

The world still revolves around the PC and it's easier to hook up to my friend's machines since almost all my friends run PCs over Macs. Out of 20 of my friends only 3 have Macs but they are sweet machines but not for me.
 
I have been with windows for 30+ years. Next project machine is going to be Ubuntu / Opera. Almost have all the parts for it. Still need to game a bit, XP will be around for a while.

I have a great gaming PC for the house, buts its only for gaming. For everything else I have my kick ass macbook pro...

yes I agree that it is a preference, two choices for two different types of people.
 
just got my macbook on saturday and i love the thing! it is so much better than my HP laptop i had. nice features and i like all the programs pretty much. still learning about the mac OS but its pretty simple. gonna load WoW on here tomorrow and check out the graphics card on it.
 
Hi guys I new on T4R and have had PC's growing up, but once I hit college I needed something that could support Adobe Creative Suite, and I have been Mac ever since.

Last year I did a side by side comparo of a PC laptop, and a Mac laptop, and found that a MacBook Pro far exceeded what any PC laptop could offer, I have the 15.4" MacBook Pro, and have never looked back.

I now also have a 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processor MacPro tower at home with dual monitors setup, one of which is the new Apple 24" LED cinema display, the other is a 22" Dell. (Provided by work)

I run the full CS4 Master Collection and multiple other programs on the MacPro effortlessly. I also run XP Pro with VMWare Fusion and enjoy still having a PC inside my Mac.

The reliability of the 10.5.7 OS is above that of any PC operating system, solid as a rock. As far as the comments that you can't customize your Mac, well they are untrue as you just have to know where to look, and what apps to download that give you that control.

I plan on doing some HD video editing this summer, and wouldn't think twice about putting that to my MacPro tower. I will upgrade the ram to about 8 gigs, so I can retain a smooth workflow even while rendering out HD video. The following video made me lol! :D

buy a mac now until sometime in september and get a free ipod touch if your using a education discount. ...yea i just got mine last month using it and no free ipod for me :(
 
I've had my Macbook for probably close to a year now, and it has been great. I've been doing a lot with photo editing, storing RAW files, etc so I am going to grab a MacBook Pro soon. Their 15" unibody designs are very nice. I'll give this MacBook to my girlfriend so she can use it in college. I wouldn't trust storing papers on a PC.

if you are still within your return period Sloan you can ask for the itouch, you never know, they might give it to you to get you to keep yours rather than return and reorder to get the free touch ;)

Better be careful spreading pictures like that on this forum though. It doesn't take much to get some of the old guys excited.
 
Yeah, I know what you mean I'll be careful.

So I think I am going to go for 8GB RAM upgrade soon for the MacPro. It's only $320 on Crucial, that way later on, I can get another 8GB for the same, and have 4 4GB chips for a total of 16GB! :yesyes:

Do you already have the Pro? Older model or newer unibody model?

I almost like the older ones better because you can get the non gloss screen.
 
I have the previous gen MacBook Pro, and the current gen MacPro Tower.
