Only their inline trans filters, great stuff.

Interesting how their site provides little to no information about how it works. I'd be concerned with a lowering of oil pressure. I'd rather have a high quality traditional oil filter allowing good oil pressure than take a chance on something unknown.

Now a pre-oiler (before engine starts) would be really good.

You can put a N type magnet on the end of your oil filter and practically do the same thing. There isn’t much room at the oilfilter to add a half inch in height.

They're particularly good at removing green particles from your wallet.

Given that 5VZ-FE engines can last 400k with regular oil & filter changes, why?

I was on magnafilter's website and saw it. I've seen plenty of people use the inline fluid filters but hadn't seen anyone using one of these. I would be curious to see how much metal it would accumulate on the magnet over say 30k miles. It's an interesting idea, but I really don't think it would be too helpful for people that change their oil regularly (3-5k miles).

In my opinion those magnet base devices are more for a motorcycle that has a transmission and clutch as part of the engine oil circulation. I have a N type magnet under my 1998 ZX9R Ninjas oil filter just for that reason.

I saw someone on a FJ forum who used one and didn’t see many particles after 20k miles. Otherwise never heard someone using one.

But their inline filters, now housed in an aluminum body, should be used IMO.
 
You could also just buy a magnetic oil drain plug. I run one, it gathers a little fuzz but not much. I've put 'gold plugs' in the oil pan, manual transmission and transfer case. Excellent quality plugs.

I plan on adding one to both transmission and power steering once I get around to flushing the power steering fluid and cleaning the reservoir.

That's another option too. While I'm not actively considering this, I do think the pre filter magnet would come into contact with more oil than the drain plug but that's just my $0.02. For all I know the oil pump is moving the oil too fast for most of the metal particles in the oil to stick to the pre filter magnet. Without any info from the manufacturer it's mostly conjecture for me at this point.

You are likely right, the magnefine one could well be better. I always put the magnetic drain plugs in everything I buy, vehicle or motorcycle. They are pretty reasonably priced and do catch a bit of fuzz. The bulk of the oil sits in the pan where the magnet is when shut down at least.
 
I am just curious if there is enough room for this magnet filter and filter.
