"MAINT" on display ?

I see in the manual the "MAINT" indicator is telling me to chg oil.
What causes this to appear and what will cause it to go away? Is there a sensor in the crankcase that knows when oil is present or not?

Its a general maint light letting you know it's time to change the oil. The shop will reset it for you. Depends on the mileage it might be time to do other maintenance such as timing belt and water pump 90k miles etc. Look at your maintenance schedule book and see what needs to get done based on your current milege.

The light comes on and flashes at 4500 miles. Then at 5000 miles it comes in solid. This light is the Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light.

This just happened to me too.
I was told to do the reset. Double check my telling of the procedure...goggle search will bring you back to T4R forum.
Set odometer / trip to odometer reading
Turn vehicle off
Push and hold trip reset post
Turn key to acc...do not start vehicle
MAINT light will flash like 5 times
Turn key to off
Start vehicle
No MAINT light.
