Making a Decision on Tires

Members of the OVERLAND community , put vehicles and their components thru a much wider variety of On-Road and Off-Road experiences than the average person with a 4wd daily driver .
Checking out what gear Overlanders are having success with ,
is not a bad place to start a decision making process.
EXPEDITION PORTAL is one of the most respected information sources in the Overland community .
Here is a LINK to a 2014 Tire evaluation they did .
Yes , it's going on four years old .
But it can still provide insight .
They employed a former Toyota Development tester with 20 years experience in helping Toyota evaluate tires .
What I like is , his testing was not driving around and having "gut" feelings , rather he approached the test the way a vehicle manufacturer would ,
with regards to reproducible , consistent methods.
He looked at tires from :
BFGoodrich , Cooper , GoodYear , General Tire , Dick Cepek , Falken & Toyo
All tires were Light Truck (LT) 265/70 R17 with an E load rating.
The disappointment for me was ,
he was not able to test the BFG AT KO2
Never - the - less , there is something for everyone to learn in this article .
One of the better articles on tires I have read in the last 45 years .
