Making Rear Cargo Area Level With Seats When Folded Down

After reading all the great ideas in this thread, I finally got to go camping with the TR4 for the first time over the weekend. An extra sleeping bag, folded in half, under the memory foam pad to give it lift ... problem solved. For one person, at least. Slept like a proverbial baby. K.I.S.S. works too.

Well..Thats cheating!. You didn't even get to use power tools!. Just Kidding. I do agree that it isn't rocket science to get a quick a dirty flat space to sleep back there.

17.6" L x 33.9" W x 3.1" H - Should fit well for 1 person with the rear seat bottom removed, plus you have a handy camp table. Anybody tried this kind of solution?

I think that is the table I got from Home Depot (actually was the 37" one). It is the correct height, but there is a gap over the slanted part between the back of the folded down seat and the top of the table. Easy enough to stuff a towel or something in there if you are sleeping on it though. The one I got is also just a little wider than half the width of the back, so leveling the entire back wouldn't work. Fit perfectly next to my Lifetime cooler though.

It is also a low friction surface, so I had to tie everything down that was on top of it (4 medium plano boxes) so it doesn't slide all over the place. I've only had it on one trip, so it was a bit of a trial run and I tent camped, so no first hand sleeping info. I'll figure a better way of securing cargo on top for next time tough.

Honestly the easiest and cheapest way is to just make something yourself. I'm no carpenter but it only took me a weekend to build this rear platform and it has held up perfectly.

Measurements are roughly 43.25" Wide x 39" Deep x 3" Tall
