Imo every 30k with 75w90 full synthetic gear oil same goes for the diffs and tcase. 80w90 is good as well.

I believe GL5 is recommended for the diff and transfer case, but GL4 is recommended for the manual transmission. But I can't remember where I read that, so apply grain of salt.
I've been using Red Line MT-90 75W90 GL-4 for about a year now, nothing has caught fire and/or exploded yet.

+1 for this. I run the redline as well. gl4 is recommended for our stuff.
As already said, GL-4 AND GL-5 are recommended for the R150F manual transmission, right in the owners manual. I used Mobil 1 GL-5 75w90 for the first 13 years I owned my 4Runner. Since then I've used Redline MT-90, mainly because it's a great product, and because I can get it cheaper than anything else.
At one time the sulfur in GL-5 gear oils could harm yellow metals. Nowadays, pretty much any reputable GL-5 gear oil will have buffered sulfur, which won't harm yellow metals.
If there are any doubts about a particular gear oil, call the manufacturer and ask.

Good to know. Do you know if there's any advantage to using GL-5, longevity or wear-wise?
Barring filling one trans with GL-4 and another with GL-5, and then running them under identical conditions for tens of thousands of miles, that's impossible to quantify.
What I can say is that in my '97, which I bought new off the lot in '97, I changed all of the factory fill gear oil in the drivetrain to Mobil 1 GL-5 75w90, at 1k miles. The R150F transmission and the rest of the drivetrain ran fine on the Mobil 1 GL-5 75w90 gear oil for 13 years. The transmission and T-case continue to run fine on Redline GL-4 MT-90.
The front diff, and rear axle continue on with Mobil 1 GL-5 75w90 gear oil. When or if it becomes necessary to change that gear oil, I'll likely switch over to Redline GL-5 75w90 in those components.

Bolding mine - the bottom shelf house brand GL5s must not have buffered sulphur, or at least the Oreilly's brand doesn't. I tend to run whatever gears and oils are cheapest, but switching from that crap to Redline MT90 made a huge difference in how my five speed shifted.
Royal Purple and Amsoil also make GL4, but the Redline is normally the least expensive and works great.
