Map lights on when opening doors?

So when I open my drivers side door I have no light except for the courtesy light in the door. It just occurred to me that this may not be right. How do I address this?

Look uptop the light between 1st and 2nd row. Look at the settings. And turn it to 'door'

If your trying to get your map lights to come on with the door open by themselves, your gunna be trying for a long time lol I think it's dumb they don't come on with the door open either ... I'm sure there is a way to wire it to do so though if you want to do so lol

There's a mod you can do where you tap into a wire in the driver side A pillar and it will turn on the map lights when you unlock and open the doors.

it took me around 20 minutes total, start to finish. Its very well worth it and not much work at all.

I wonder if there's an easier way to tap power from the dome light in the center of the car...

Probably still too much work to be worth it. Wish these had the same off/door/on switch as the others. Ah well...

Toyota 4Runner Maplight Mod

Did this last night. Favorite mod yet! I wanted to save a switch spot for other mods so I just went ahead and tapped into the Pin wire that JA shows for the bottom switch connector. It's nice to have light now!

@J.A., so I have a sunroof and don't want to run an additional switch so do I just tap the white wire in that roof wire ribbon cable?

Yes, but it is not the only white wire there at the dome light. It is at #2 position. Like the others have mentioned, use a test light or meter and check for the correct one. You would be looking for ground when the door is opened.
