Maui Members?

I'm very envious of your trip Hepar! I haven't been to Maui since i was married in 02/02/02 (since divorced, but such is life). We were staying in kapalua and had a great time on the road to hana. That drive takes forever with all the one lane bridges and such, but the black sand beaches and the amazing views from the top make it well worth it. I'm hoping to get back out there next year, I can still remember the Old Lahana Luau and Whalers village. I love the island, next time I go, I'm hoping to see more than just Maui. Have a great time!

Thanks! I have to admit that I wasn't too excited when this trip was first planned. My gf and I are going mainly because most of her immediate family are going too. The first half of the vacation will be spent with them. That and the fact that I feel like there are other places I'd rather go for the money. I LOVE Hawaii and think it's gorgeous, but there are places in Mexico and CA that are cheaper, less of jolt time-zone wise, more isolated, less crowded surf, etc etc. She had to literally twist my arm to get me to agree to this trip. Now I can't wait! The fact that it's rainy and in the 40's here in Seattle doesn't hurt either.

I think I'm gonna check out Paia Bay. Suggestions on good tide times to go there?

That was about 30 years and a few boards ago. Wish I did keep it, though.

To be honest, I don't really know much about tides. I always just looked out the window to see if the waves were breaking! :surfer:

Oh man. Why are you here again? My 3-5 year plan is to have a little place on a break down on the Baja Peninsula and be able to work remotely from there during the winter.

My business keeps me in Seattle, but I get home a couple of times a year so it all works out for me. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks again everyone for the tips! Got back late last night and miss the sun already. Got in the water and the surf was great! Met up with a local (friend of a friend) who took me to a few different spots. Don't remember the names. One was just south of Lahaina and the other was on the central side. Both great waves and super fun. The other times I just did a dawn patrol mission right outside my place in Kihei at the Cove. Found if I was in the water by around 6am, I could get a good sesh in before the crowds got there. Waves were small inside there, but SUPER clean and fun. Swell was coming out of the west for the first half of the trip, but then shifted to the north for the last part. When that happened, the Cove turned to glass.
