mid dual battery build..stupid question..

how tall are the optima batteries, i can't seem to find that info, all group 24's are equal right as that's the physical size?

i've shoe-horned two standard batteries in there but feels like the height isn't correct, i have the hood bumper ran all the way up and it sits level with the top post, i have cut out the fuse box bracket on the front side but left the elevated platform the old battery say on, this thing

I remember optima being on the smaller side but its been years since I've owned one.

i just had the parts and materials laying around and my battery started giving me long slow starts over the last few weeks, that and i can't find a good solution for the alt, i want to put one in there that can handle both batteries and stream crossings, from what mr leary was saying on expo was that even the toyota ones have been dying , and that's even more so with a mr2 wound one, i'm looking at the mean green ones, or even possibly a water cooled one, haha...i really don;t know what i'm going to do with this alt thing.

Mine sit tall. My optima is about like that. just run the ground on the grill side so if it touches it won't arc. I plan on cutting that stock battery platform off and dropping them down an inch here in the next few weeks.

I installed a CS-144 last week and it has been doing great even with the winch....

lol, well that was totally useless, that was where i robbed the photo above from,

we removed the fuse box bracket and cut out the original battery mount bracketwe removed the fuse box bracket and cut out the original battery mount bracket

i was confused of what they meant by this as the next pic is with everything installed...


i was just driving around and noticed that the battery side of my hood was pushed up a bit...made me nervous, (was running secondary ground as well) so i went to the FLAPS to se if i could snag something better than what i had.


i ended coming out with x2 of these, i also got them @ $130 a piece due to a local hook up ,

the best bit was when side by side with the 34/35 yellow top it was quite a bit shorter, everything now fits very easily and i'm now wondering if two of these would have fit with 1/2 as much work.....

anyways, got them in there and will try to wire everything up sometime this week or next weekend.

that said, looking for a monitor so i can see capacity from the cab, you guys got any *cheapish* recommendations? as the reserve capacity and group size is different on the batteries i picked up i want to keep an eye on them,but i figure if the battery i picked up is stock for a 2011 silverodo it should be fine for the runner, and needed something now and the extra cost of the optima's just didn't sit right with me especially when your talking about two of them, haha

it's mostly the stream water factor i'm worried about, that's a great alt and should be more than enough....but i dunno about it frying when driving through deep water, have you read up on that?
