I agree with Rix."vzfe is a non interference engine.
If the tbelt breaks, it just stops running, no bent valves.
Iirc the 99 and up is a 90k interval on the belt, but they'll go a lot longer.
The plugs are 30k, and more finicky.
Fluids and occasionally a rear axle bearing and seal.
Really good rigs though.
And the cam and crank seals almost never leak.
Valve covers do sometimes, but that's easy."
Thanks for this info... make me feel a lot better...
I'm sure the majority of 3rd gen owners out there who just do oil changes and put gas in have double the recommended miles on their timing belt.
Buddy of mine with a black 01 SR5 just got his done for the first time at 180k. Another friend with a green 01 Sport Edition hasn't done his yet and he's at 160k.
Some people have 200k+ on original timing belts.
But, Rix is right, the general consensus has it that 90k is the interval I've heard is recommended for these trucks time and time again. I don't think I have even heard of one ever breaking, but I hardly pay attention to 5VZ stuff if I don't have to.
