If that's your idea of four-wheeling, my Honda Civic must be a rock buggy. Just messing with ya'--at least you got it off the pavement. Now go find something a little deeper (like another couple feet!) and post up some pics of THAT! Those 3rd Gen's are very capable beasts.

A little further down that road they get REAL deep. I'll get to that AFTER the diff breather, can't afford to be fixing my axle! And anyways I didn't have time, the Suburban I was following me gave me a ride to get some food, after picking up a guy's cremated remains. Strange way to end the day lol.

*Starts crying* lol I'll get to some better stuff eventually, I just need the extended breather before I even attempt that stuff. Check my build thread in half an hour for a glimpse into the future.

That's just up the road from me! I haven't driven that one yet, but I've been up another one that's similar, just without the big boulder at the bottom to screw up the approach. Yeah, some of these Black Hills trails are beasts!

Normally a long wheelbase is good for high obstacles, but it actually screws him there. With a shorter wheelbase (like, say, a 1st gen Yota
), he could slip behind that rock and reach the top without needing to resort to that crazy wheelstand.But I agree that that's definitely a little closer to proper offroading than splashing in puddles on a dirt road. C'mon, Hedgehog, you can do better than that.

I did the engine swap myself. The suspension was one I lucked into--I was making plans to do nearly the exact same thing to my stock '95 (only I was going to use selectable lockers), and while I was putting together the funds to order the goods, I found an ad for this one that had the EXACT SAME system I wanted, already installed (same company, same height, same tires even!). Everything looked good, with solid welds throughout, and the truck itself was in much better shape than my current one, so I bought it and sold my stock one. I confess I'm no welder, so I would've needed assistance there, but I was going to do the suspension just as I did the engine--roll it into my friend's huge garage, put it on stands, and go to town. I added the bumper and sliders later, using a local shop for the welding. I'll learn that welding stuff yet, so I can play on my own--I love fabricating stuff from scratch!

Guys guys guys, I had a mini baptism to celebrate me being able to finally take it places, there are no offroad trails around here, so I will have to resort to unimproved roads like these. And I need a truck to pull me out if I really want to get going. My buddy is getting this truck in February or so:
85 Silverado 454 Lifted Blown Doing Donuts - YouTube
The 454 that was in there is bored out to 506, so the current owner is dropping in a 350, lowing it a tad and sizing down the tires to 36s. It's currently on 39s, not sure how much of a lift. This truck has been a pavement queen all it's life, and I have a feeling my friend will keep it that way. But THAT will be my recovery rig, until then I'll have to call some buddies in the fire dept. to yank me out. I'll scout out some more roads, I got a few from ksneubec(we live in the same town, he is one of my superiors). Tomorrow I'll check out the road I was on in the video all the way to the end, then I'll check out a few more and see what I can do to get my title changed from "puss" to "less of a puss" XD
