So though I have not compared the 03-05 vs 06-09 in person, here's what I've gotten from my research.
- The 06-09 grille CAN fit on an 03-05 with modification.
- 03-05 bumper sits slightly higher than 06-09 bumper.
- 06-09 headlights are angled at the inner lower corners.
Modification Options:
To use unmodified grille:
1) Swap 03-05 headlights with newer 06-09 headlights
AND
Swap or modify lower trim piece below headlight
AND
Cut small notch in bumper OR Cut large notch in bottom of grille
To use modified grille:
2) Cut bottom and lower corners of 06-09 grille
I am unsure how either of these methods would affect the hood latching mechanism but I assume it is plausible because some brave people have done it.
Anyway, we are working on a design for the 03-05 grille assembly and hoping to have that ready soon as well and we can put all of this cutting and buying new headlights to rest.
